Osteo-fasciocutaneous parascapular flap transfer for reconstruction of the first ray of the foot.
Severe bone and soft tissue defects of the first metatarsal bone after trauma, tumor resection or osteomyelitis are challenging to treat. Partial amputation of the foot may be the consequence. However, due to its significance for gait, salvage of the first ray should be considered, whenever possible. One option for bone and soft tissue reconstruction, therefore, might be an osteo-fasciocutaneous parascapular flap transfer. ⋯ The osteo- fasciocutaneous flap proved to be very versatile and safe for foot reconstruction due to its favorable vascular anatomy. In all patients (partial), amputation of the foot could be avoided.

Distal forearm fracture in the adult: is ORIF of the radius and closed reduction of the ulna a treatment option in distal forearm fracture?
Distal forearm fractures in younger adults are rare injuries resulting from high energy trauma. Treatment options vary from cast fixation, external fixator, percutaneus pinning and open reduction and internal fixation. ⋯ Open reduction and internal fixation of the radius is the keystone in treating distal forearm fracture. In case of stable retention of the ulnar head after closed reduction, cast fixation with or without percutaneus pin fixation is a sufficient method to treat unstable distal forearm fractures. In patients with remaining instability of the distal ulna fracture, ORIF is indicated.

Acetabular revision arthroplasty using jumbo cups: an experience in Asia.
Variable degrees of bony deficiencies often complicate revisional arthrolasties of acetabular components and represent challenges to orthopedic surgeons. Many solutions exist and cementless jumbo cup reconstruction had been proven to be a feasible and successful method. Our study aimed to access the results of these cementless giant cups for managing acetabular bony defect at one institute. ⋯ With the aid of novel implant-coating technique and materials, jumbo cup reconstruction can achieve stability and longevity through an adequate peripheral ring-contact, regardless of inadequate implant to host bone contact. We believe that this is a reliable and easily performed reconstruction for acetabular defect.
