Rotator cuff muscular integrity after arthroscopic revision of a Bankart repair.
Recurrent shoulder instability after arthroscopic Bankart repair is still a common complication. For primary Bankart repair studies have shown that the rotator cuff can recover completely. The ability of muscles to regenerate after arthroscopic revision Bankart repair (ARBR) has not been studied. Does the ARBR using a three-portal method allows complete muscle integrity compared with an uninjured imaging control group (ICG)? ⋯ ARBR using a three-portal method allowed good muscular integrity compared with the ICG, but with persistent slight muscular atrophy of the SSP and ISP.

Incidence and risk factors for postoperative Achilles tendon calcifications after percutaneous repair.
Numerous publications are dealing with acute Achilles tendon rupture. To our knowledge, no systematic trial has been published analyzing the incidence, risk factors and the potential clinical impact of postoperative tendon calcifications (PTC) after percutaneous Achilles tendon repair. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyze these relevant aspects. ⋯ The incidence of PTC after percutaneous Achilles tendon repair was 11.1%. Male gender and advanced age seem to be risk factors for PTC. In this study, PTC had no negative impact on the postoperative clinical outcome.

Case ReportsIsolated radial neck delayed union/nonunion after conservative treatment in adults: two case reports and a literature review.
Treatment recommendations for isolated radial neck delayed union/nonunion are sparse, but include mainly conservative treatment, electro-stimulation, bone grafting, open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) and radial head resection. The purpose of this study was to perform a literature review on isolated delayed union/nonunion of radial neck fractures and to evaluate the reported outcomes of proposed treatment strategies. Furthermore, we aimed to generate data-based recommendations for this rare pathology. In the second part of this paper, we report two clinical cases of delayed union of isolated radial neck fractures recently treated at the senior authors institution. ⋯ Isolated delayed union or nonunion of the radial neck after conservative treatment in adult patients appears to be rare and often remains asymptomatic. Operative treatment is recommended for symptomatic delayed union/nonunion in patients with altered elbow function [3]. All surgically treated patients in our study with symptomatic delayed unions/nonunions had favorable clinical outcomes.

Superior biomechanical properties and tying time with the modified Prusik knot and Wittstein suture loop to the Krackow stitch.
The purposes of the study were to compare (1) the biomechanical properties of the modified Prusik knot, Wittstein suture loop, and Krackow stitch fixation, and (2) the knot tying times for tendon graft fixation among the Krackow stitch, modified rolling hitch, modified Prusik knot, and Wittstein suture loop. ⋯ Compared to the Krackow stitch, the modified Prusik knot and Wittstein suture loop had less elongation after cyclic loading and similar ultimate load to failure in this porcine in vitro biomechanical study. Shorter knot tying times were required to complete the modified rolling hitch, modified Prusik knot, and Wittstein suture loop than the Krackow stitch.

Early postoperative magnetic resonance imaging findings after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair: T2 hyperintensity of the capsule can predict reduced shoulder motion.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether postoperative shoulder magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings correlate with postoperative shoulder range of motion (ROM) at about 4 months after arthroscopic rotator cuff repair (ARCR). ⋯ Newly developed signal changes of the capsule, pericapsular soft tissue at the axillary recess, and subcoracoid fat triangle were often detected on postoperative MRI at 4 months after ARCR. Furthermore, newly developed T2 hyperintensity of the capsule and pericapsular soft tissue at the axillary recess correlated with limited ROM in ER and IR at 4 months after ARCR.
