Is biceps tenodesis necessary when performing arthroscopic rotator cuff repair in patients older than 55 years?
In patients with arthroscopic rotator cuff repair, tenotomy and tenodesis are the most performed surgical procedures for the biceps long head (BLH) pathologies. Controversy continues as to which surgical procedure provides better results. This study aimed to compare the clinical outcomes of tenotomy and tenodesis applied to the biceps long head in patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair. ⋯ The effect of tenodesis versus tenotomy for BHL pathologies in patients who underwent arthroscopic rotator cuff repair was not significant for clinical scores, but bicipital groove tenderness and biceps muscle cramping were significantly higher in the tenodesis group.

Comparing the accuracy of three-dimensional mini-optical portable navigation and accelerometer-based portable navigation system for acetabular cup placement during total hip arthroplasty.
This study compared the accuracy of three dimensional (3D) mini-optical navigation and accelerometer-based portable navigation systems for cup positioning during a total hip arthroplasty (THA) in the supine position. ⋯ This is the first study to compare the accuracy of cup positioning between 3D mini-optical and accelerometer-based navigations in THA in the supine position. Both portable navigation systems accurately identified the orientation of cup placement. The accuracy of 3D mini-optical navigation is not affected by high BMI and may be preferred over other options in such patients.

Management of acute periprosthetic knee infection: a comparison of arthroscopic and open debridement.
In acute periprosthetic knee infections, debridement and implant retention (DAIR) is the preferred treatment prior to one- and two-stage revisions. The aim of this study is to compare the outcomes of arthroscopic and open debridement of infected primary total knee arthroplasties (TKA). ⋯ Open debridement for acute periprosthetic knee infection shows clear benefits in terms of infection eradication and prosthesis salvage compared to arthroscopic DAIR.

Review Meta AnalysisAre leukocyte-poor or multiple injections of platelet-rich plasma more effective than hyaluronic acid for knee osteoarthritis? A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) has gained popularity as a treatment option for knee osteoarthritis; however, its efficacy remains controversial. The optimal leukocyte concentration and number of injections have not been well investigated. This study was, therefore, designed to provide clinical evidence on the leukocyte concentration and number of intra-articular injections of PRP via a meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). ⋯ Meta-analysis of level I studies.

Review Meta AnalysisImpact of concomitant upper-extremity injuries in patients with hip fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Combined hip and upper-extremity fractures raise clinical concerns because upper-extremity fractures may hinder early mobilization, thereby affecting rehabilitation and mortality. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to evaluate the effects of combined upper-extremity and hip fractures on rehabilitation and mortality. ⋯ III meta-analysis.
