Eighteen-year outcome of anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with patellar tendon or hamstring autograft.
To evaluate patient reported outcomes and radiographic arthritic changes of transtibial anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction (ACLR) with either bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) or hamstrings (HS) auto-grafts at a minimum of 15-year follow-up. ⋯ Very long-term outcomes and clinical stability of transtibial HS or BPTB graft ACL reconstruction are good with low rate of graft failure and radiographic osteoarthritis.

Comparative StudyA two-year comparison of reverse total shoulder arthroplasty mini-humeral tray and augmented mini-glenoid baseplate implants vs. standard implants.
Patients who undergo reverse total shoulder arthroplasty (RTSA) are getting younger with greater function expectations. This retrospective, longitudinal study of prospectively collected data compared perceived shoulder function and strength, active shoulder mobility, radiographic evidence of scapular notching, and implant survival over the initial 2-years post-RTSA among patient groups who received either standard central fixation point liner and glenoid baseplate implants, or lower size profile mini-humeral tray with offset trunnion options and mini-augmented glenoid baseplate implants. ⋯ Retrospective comparative study.

Percutaneous intramedullary screw or rush pin fixation of unstable ankle fractures in patients with fragile soft tissue - retrospective study of 80 cases.
The standard surgical procedure for unstable ankle fractures is fixation of the lateral malleolus with a plate and screws. This method has a high risk of complications, especially among patients with fragile skin conditions. The aim of this study was to estimate the re-operation rates and identify complications in patients with an unstable ankle fracture, surgically treated with an intramedullary screw or rush pin. ⋯ Intramedullary fixation of distal fibula fractures with either a screw or rush pin has low re-operation rates. However, the high proportion of patients with radiological loss of reduction is concerning.

Are silver-coated megaprostheses superior to uncoated megaprostheses in managing chronic end-stage periprosthetic hip and knee infection?
Outcomes for silver coated megaprostheses (SC-MP) used in cases of end-stage periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) have not been clearly defined. Although attractive, concerns over implant longevity and the risk of infection relapse exist among the scientific community. Therefore, we sought to investigate the effect of silver coating in lower-extremity MPs used in such difficult-to-treat scenarios. The study's primary hypothesis was that the periprosthetic infection control rate would be higher in patients with silver-coated implants. ⋯ We were unable to confirm our initial hypothesis that use of silver-coated implants in end-stage PJI scenarios may be associated with better outcomes in terms of infection control or implant survivorship.
