The distal tibiofibular syndesmosis is a reliable landmark for 3° varus tibial resection in total knee arthroplasty: a radiological evaluation on 1296 cases.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the reproducibility and the accuracy of distal tibiofibular syndesmosis (DTFS) as landmark to perform controlled varus tibial resections during total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The hypothesis was that DTFS can be used to perform an accurate 3° varus tibial cut. ⋯ IV, retrospective case series.

Utility of 3D reformatted images in the diagnosis of sternoclavicular joint injury.
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the ability of musculoskeletal radiologists to diagnose sternoclavicular joint injuries in the standard CT imaging planes compared to 3D volume rendered images to define the most accurate plane to improve prospective diagnosis. ⋯ 3D volume renderings of the sternoclavicular joints have the potential to improve radiologist accuracy for detection of sternoclavicular joint injury/dislocation in the setting of chest well trauma, which could decrease instances of missed or delayed diagnosis.

Mid-term clinical and sonographic outcomes of minimally invasive acromioclavicular joint reconstruction: mini-open versus arthroscopically assisted.
The current literature describes various operative stabilization strategies which achieve good clinical outcomes after acute acromioclavicular joint (ACJ) dislocation. The aim of this study was to compare the mid-term clinical and sonographic treatment outcomes after minimally invasive mini-open and arthroscopic reconstruction. ⋯ Both minimally invasive techniques for acute ACJ stabilization achieved excellent clinical and sonographic outcomes without one technique being statistically superior to the other.

Compliance status and influencing factors of anticoagulation therapy in outpatient undergoing major orthopedic surgery.
This study was designed to investigate influencing factors of out-of-hospital anticoagulation therapy compliance among patients undergoing major orthopaedic surgeries. ⋯ Poor compliance with out-of-hospital anticoagulation therapy in patients undergoing major orthopedic surgery is mainly associated with a long course of medication, adverse reactions, low self-efficacy and low medication beliefs. Healthcare staff should strengthen post-discharge anticoagulation management based on relevant influencing factors to enhance patient compliance.

Preventing secondary screw perforation following proximal humerus fracture after locking plate fixation: a new clinical prognostic risk stratification model.
After locking plate (LP) fixation, secondary screw perforation (SSP) is the most common complication in proximal humerus fracture (PHF). SSP is the main cause of glenoid destruction and always leads to reoperation. This study aimed to identify independent risk parameters for SSP and establish an individualized risk prognostic model to facilitate its clinical management. ⋯ We developed and validated a visual and personalized nomogram that could predict the individual risk of SSP and provide a decision basis for surgeons to create the most optional management plan. However, future prospective and externally validated design studies are warranted to verify our model's efficacy.
