Results of primary radial corrective osteotomy in Madelung's deformity.
The purpose of this study was the evaluation of surgical outcomes in a series of wrists with Madelung's deformity treated with radial corrective osteotomy. We hypothesize that this surgical technique is a suitable and safe way of treatment. ⋯ Radial corrective osteotomy was a suitable treatment of Madelung's deformity in our collective, although surgical outcomes are not yet fully satisfying.

Primary TKA in patients with major deformities and ligament laxities: promising results of an intermediate constrained implant at mid-term follow-up.
Total knee arthroplasty (TKA) in major deformities with ligament insufficiency may require a higher constraint, with bone sacrifice and concerns about long-term survivorship. Mid-level constraint liners have been recently introduced, but few studies described their outcomes. The aim of this study is to evaluate the short to mid-term outcomes of a constrained postero-stabilized (CPS) insert for primary TKA in moderate to severe deformities. ⋯ IV (case series).

Effect of national COVID-19 lockdown on the incidence of muscle, tendon and ligament injuries and related surgical procedures in the working-aged Finnish population.
The effect of lockdown on the incidence of fractures and severe injuries has been widely studied, whereas studies regarding muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries have not received as much attention. The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of the lockdown and later regional regulations due to the COVID pandemic on the incidence of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries and related surgical procedures. ⋯ The nationwide lockdown in spring 2020 led to a notable decrease in the incidence of emergency department visits and the surgical treatment of muscle, tendon, and ligament injuries in Finland.

CT-guided vs. fluoroscopically guided transforaminal epidural steroid injections for lumbar radiculopathy: a comparison of efficacy, safety and cost.
There are no formal guidelines for whether CT-guided or fluoroscopy-guided TFESI should be undertaken for patients with symptoms of lumbar nerve root irritation and corresponding nerve impingement. Here, we sought to compare the efficacy, safety and cost of computer tomography (CT)-guided and fluoroscopically guided transforaminal epidural steroid injection (TFESI). ⋯ CT-guided TFESI was associated with a higher discharge rate, a lower cost, but a ten times higher radiation dose when compared with fluoroscopically guided TFESI. Prospective studies are required to compare the efficacy of these procedures and to investigate how the radiation dose of CT-guided TFESI can be reduced without jeopardising efficacy or safety.

Trans-fracture approach for ORIF of coronal shear fractures of the distal humerus.
Open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of comminuted coronal shear fractures of the distal humerus is challenging. When a concomitant lateral condyle fracture is present, it may be used for a trans-fracture approach to facilitate exposure and fracture reduction. This study aimed to investigate the frequency of lateral condyle fractures in coronal shear fractures of the distal humerus and analyze fracture reduction, fracture union and clinical results following ORIF through a trans-fracture approach. ⋯ Lateral condyle fractures are present in about one third of coronal shear fractures of the distal humerus. This injury can be used for a trans-fracture approach to facilitate exposure and to reliably achieve anatomic fracture reduction.
