Total hip arthroplasty after failed treatment of proximal femur fracture.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) is a good option as a salvage procedure after failed treatment of proximal femur fracture. The anatomy of the proximal femur, however, makes this surgery complicated and challenging. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the radiographic and clinical outcomes of THA after failed treatment of proximal femur fractures. ⋯ Performing THA after failed treatment of trochanteric fractures requires consideration of complication risk and incorrect femoral neck anteversion.

Coronal deformity correction with total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is an important feature in the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). The hypothesis of this study was that bone morphology would be different in varus and valgus deformity, both before osteoarthritis development as well as during and after the disease process of OA. ⋯ Level IV study.

Outcome following subluxation of mobile articulating spacers in two-stage revision total knee arthroplasty.
Infection after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) is a severe complication. It is usually treated with two-stage revision and implantation of a cement spacer. Few studies describe the complications associated with a mobile articulating spacer. This study examined the subluxation of articulating antibiotic spacers in knees and correlated it with prospectively collected early outcome scores after implantation of a revision prosthesis. ⋯ Sagittal subluxation of the knee may influence the early to midterm outcome scores following a staged revision TKA for infection.

Observational StudySurvival of uncemented cups from a single manufacturer implanted from 1985 to 2013: Finnish Arthroplasty Register data.
Total hip arthroplasty (THA) with uncemented implants has been a relatively common procedure in Finland during the recent decades. The most common brand of uncemented implants was chosen for further analysis to study the survivorship of this uncemented cup design in comparison to cemented references. ⋯ We found that modern uncemented cup designs may provide good long-term survivorship rates comparable with the gold standard of cemented cups. However, polyethylene wear, liner problems and periosthetic osteolysis may still occur, also with modern uncemented acetabular components.
