Comparative StudyInduced membrane technique with plate fixation has a lower complication rate than bone transport over a plate for segmental tibial defects larger than 5 cm.
The treatment of segmental tibial bone defects remains a surgical challenge. While Bone Transport (BT) and Induced Membrane Technique (IMT) are effective strategies for regenerating bone, there are few comparative studies between them. This investigation undertakes a comparative analysis of BT and IMT for large segmental tibial defects stabilised through plate fixation. ⋯ BTOP and IMTP are both equally effective techniques for regenerating bone in large tibial bone defects. However, IMTP may be a safer procedure than BTOP, with a lower probability of requiring additional procedures to address complications.

Comparative StudyComparison of bilateral cementless total knee arthroplasty results between patients in different BMI groups.
The aim of this study was to compare the results of cementless bilateral total knee arthroplasty (TKA) between individuals in different obesity groups. ⋯ Cementless TKA improved KS and FS in all obesity groups, yielded high patient satisfaction. Although the incidence of complications was higher in the morbidly obese patients than in the overweight patients, the difference was not significant. Patients with morbid obesity should be informed about related risks before planning cementless TKA.

Are orthopedic clinical trials representative? An analysis of race and ethnicity reported in clinical trials between 2007 and 2022 : Running title: representation of clinical trials in orthopedic surgery.
Prior studies investigating the racial and ethnic representation of orthopedic trial participants have found low rates of reporting, but these studies are dated due to the passing of the National Institutes of Health Final Rule in 2017 requiring the reporting of racial and ethnic data among clinical trials. Therefore, we evaluated the representativeness of orthopedic clinical trials before and after the Final Rule. ⋯ III.

Case ReportsA new etiology of nontraumatic C0-C1-C2-Complex instability - abnormality of musculus rectus capitis posterior minor: a case report.
This study presents an abnormality of the musculus rectus capitis posterior minor (RCPmi) as a new etiological factor for nontraumatic sagittal plane instability in the C0-C1-C2-complex, with a focus on identifying the absence or atrophy of RCPmi on both sides. ⋯ In this case, we not only report the atrophy or absence of RCPmi as a new etiological factor for nontraumatic sagittal plane instability in the C0-C1-C2-complex but also discovered a new function of RCPmi. The cephalad-rearward traction exerted by RCPmi on the C1 posterior arch is essential for the development of a normal C1 anterior-posterior diameter.
