We describe variation across geographical regions of England in operations undertaken following presentation of hip fracture and in 30-day mortality. Some significant geographic variation in 30-day mortality was observed particularly for patients with trochanteric hip fractures and warrants further investigation of other aspects of post-hip fracture care INTRODUCTION: Mortality after hip fracture has improved considerably in the UK over recent decades. Our aim here was to describe geographical variation in type of operation performed and 30-day mortality amongst patients in England with hip fracture.

This is the first report on the fragility of results from randomized controlled trials (RCTs) for the treatment of osteoporosis. The results of aforementioned RCTs appear to depend on a small number of events and are generally statistically fragile.

This systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted on all eligible cohort studies to evaluate the association between high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) and osteoporotic fracture risk. Both frequentist and Bayesian approaches were employed for the meta-analysis. We found that high tertiles of hs-CRP were significantly associated with increased fracture risk.

A total of 25,306 psoriasis participants were matched to 101,224 controls, and the occurrence of osteoporosis was analyzed. Additionally, 79,212 osteoporosis patients were matched to 79,212 controls and a previous history of psoriasis was analyzed. Psoriasis increased the risk of osteoporosis among participants aged ≥ 40 years.

We report the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on bone densitometry practice in a Northern Italy Orthopedic Hospital, comparing the first 4 months of 2020 with the corresponding period of 2019. COVID-19 pandemic had a disruptive effect on the daily practice of bone densitometry (about - 50% of examinations).
