Anaesthesiology practitioners experience extraordinary pressure and stress in their daily work. ⋯ Approximately one-third of Kosovar anaesthesiologists and anaesthesiology technicians showed high level of burnout and it is rising as work overload and the role of managerial responsibility increases. Increasing the number of employed anaesthesiologists and anaesthesiology technicians in health institutions in Kosovo will lead to a better workload distribution and lower burnout syndrome.

The emerging COVID-19 pandemic poses a threat to the global health care system. Given the lack of antiviral therapies or vaccines for the disease, the antimalarial drug hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) obtained much attention as a treatment for COVID-19. However, there are limited and uncertain clinical data to support the beneficial effect of this drug in COVID-19 treatment. ⋯ For severe cases of COVID-19 or in patients with preexisting conditions, administering such a drug could be fatal, particularly when taken at high doses or in combination with other antibiotics. However, further well-designed studies that would address the optimal dose, duration of treatment, possible side effects, and long-term usage outcomes are needed to make the final decision. In this paper, we aim to discuss the risk of using HCQ in treating COVID-19 patients, including its possible side effects.

Concerns about safety and complexity of diabetes treatments have increased overtime. We assessed secular trends in the FDA approvals, market discontinuations, and safety actions of all antidiabetic drugs marketed in the US in the period 1980-2015. ⋯ Newly approved antidiabetic drugs have raised safety concerns and led to FDA safety regulatory actions including boxed warnings, risk evaluation and mitigation strategies, medication guides, and safety communications to health care providers. There is a need for systematic post-marketing studies assessing the long-term safety of antidiabetic drugs to improve patient safety and health outcomes.
