Randomized Controlled TrialInstant dentin hypersensitivity relief of a single topical application of an in-office desensitizing paste containing 8% arginine and calcium carbonate: a split-mouth, randomized-controlled study.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the clinical efficacy of an in-office desensitizing paste containing 8% arginine and calcium carbonate relative to calcium carbonate alone in the reduction of dentin hypersensitivity in a randomized, double-blind, split-mouth clinical trial. ⋯ The tested in-office desensitizing paste containing 8.0% arginine and calcium carbonate provides significantly greater hypersensitivity relief compared to calcium carbonate alone.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative StudyTreatment outcomes of pulpotomy in permanent molars with irreversible pulpitis using biomaterials: a multi-center randomized controlled trial.
To conduct a randomized clinical trial to compare the post-operative pain experience as well as clinical and radiographic outcomes of pulpotomy in human permanent molars with irreversible pulpitis using calcium enriched mixture (CEM) cement or mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA). ⋯ Excellent treatment outcomes occurred in molar teeth with irreversible pulpitis undergoing pulpotomy with MTA and CEM biomaterials.

Psychosocial aspects of temporomandibular disorders and oral health-related quality-of-life.
The aim of the study was to evaluate the association between psychosocial aspects of temporomandibular disorders (TMD) and oral health-related quality-of-life (OHRQoL) and, secondly, to investigate the gender differences in these associations using patient and non-patient groups. ⋯ TMD associate with OHRQoL through multiple ways, linked with depression and somatization. These findings emphasize the importance of early and effective treatment of TMD.

Randomized Controlled TrialCorrelation of splint therapy outcome with the electromyography of masticatory muscles in temporomandibular disorder with myofascial pain.
The aim of this study was to assess the effect of occlusal splint therapy on the electromyographic amplitude records (μV) of masticatory muscles in temporomandibular disorder (TMD) with myofascial pain and to detect a possible existence of a relationship between this effect and the treatment outcome. ⋯ Occlusal splint could eliminate or improve the signs and symptoms of TMD patients with myofascial pain. It reduces the electromyographic amplitude records (μV) of the masticatory muscles. The splint therapy outcome has a correlation with the electromyographic amplitude changes of the masticatory muscles.

The impact of emotional intelligence and intelligence quotient (IQ) on child anxiety and behavior in the dental setting.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of IQ and EQ on child's anxiety and behavior in the dental setting. ⋯ The major finding of this research suggested that a high EQ may be more effective than a low EQ in moderating the level of cooperation during dental treatment of children. IQ scores, on the other hand, were related to the child's EQ score (r = 0.20) and age (r = - 0.29).
