Chiasmatic-hypothalamic masses in adults: a case series and review of the literature.
Chiasmatic-hypothalamic masses are commonly seen in children with neurofibromatosis type 1 and often demonstrate a benign clinical course. These masses are, however, rare in adults and require tissue sampling for diagnosis. Here, we present four cases of chiasmatic-hypothalamic masses in adults with pathologically proven diagnoses. We also provide a review of the literature and propose a limited differential in this age group.

Convexity Subarachnoid Hemorrhage with PiB Positive Pet Scans: Clinical Features and Prognosis.
Cerebral amyloid angiopathy (CAA) has been reported to present as convexity subarachnoid hemorrhage (cSAH). Lesser known is that cSAH can herald intracerebral hemorrhage (ICH) and ischemic lesions. We present seven new cases with (11) C-Pittsburgh compound B (PiB) positive positron emission tomography (PET) scans including two with biopsy, review the literature and comment on clinical and radiological findings. ⋯ The finding of cSAH and PiB binding in our patients suggest underlying CAA. cSAH may be associated with ischemic lesion as well as future ICH occurrence.

We investigated the relationship between transcranial Doppler (TCD) pulsatility index (PI) and central aortic pressure by measurement of the aortic augmentation index (AIx). ⋯ TCD PI was significantly related with central aortic pressure, especially PP. The PI in the MCA and BA is closely associated with the pulsatile component of BP in the systemic circulation.

Comparative Study
Carotid MRI Detection of Intraplaque Hemorrhage at 3T and 1.5T.
Carotid intraplaque hemorrhage leads to plaque progression and ischemic events. Detection can be accomplished with 3T T1w sequences, but may be limited by false-positive lipid/necrosis. The purpose of this study was threefold: (1) to determine if magnetization-prepared rapid acquisition with gradient-echo (MPRAGE) detects intraplaque hemorrhage versus lipid/necrosis; (2) if 3T MPRAGE image quality is retained at 1.5T; and (3) to determine observer agreement. ⋯ Carotid MPRAGE detects intraplaque hemorrhage, not lipid/necrosis. 3T image quality was retained at 1.5T with very good observer agreement.

The aim of this study is to explore the possible changed cerebral white matter regions in patients with temporal lobe epilepsy (TLE) using diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) and tract-based spatial statistics (TBSS). ⋯ TLE is associated with widespread abnormalities in cerebral white matter tracts and these changes may have important clinical consequences.
