Parametric evaluation of methotrimeprazine-midazolam-ketamine and methotrimeprazine-midazolam-ketamine-xylazine combination in dogs.
To evaluate the parameters of dogs anesthetized by different dissociative drugs protocols through continuous intravenous infusion. ⋯ There were some advantages by using the continuous intravenous via: no parameters oscillation and reduction in the anesthetic recovery period. The increase in midazolam dose brought about little parametric variations which were greater when xylazine was used, with a consequent hypoxemia, bradyarrhytmia, and decrease in respiratory frequency and minute volume.

Influence of S(+)-ketamine analgesia in renal intraoperative ischemia: histological study in rats.
To study in rats the effect of S(+) ketamine on the renal histology after intraoperative hemorrhage. ⋯ Hemorrhage and hypotension determined changes in kidney histology. The rise in catecholamine blood concentration probably was the cause of S(+)-ketamine-induced higher score of histological changes.

[Early effects of 7.5% hypertonic saline solution on splanchnic perfusion after hemorrhagic shock].
To evaluate the effects of SSH resuscitation on systemic and splanchnic hemodynamic variables in an experimental model of controlled hemorrhagic shock. ⋯ The SSH infusion promoted partial systemic and splanchnic hemodynamic benefits. Those benefits were especially poor at the splanchnic microcirculation, as evaluated by D(t-a)pCO2. In addition, systemic and regional oxygen-derived variables do not reflect the regional microcirculation disturbances. Gastrointestinal tonometry clearly represents a useful tool for monitoring splanchnic perfusion in patients in hemodynamic shock.

Prehospital pediatric trauma classification (PHPTC) as a tool for optimizing trauma care resources in the city of São Paulo, Brazil.
To evaluate the pediatric prehospital care in São Paulo, the databases from basic life support units (BLSU) and ALSU, and to propose a simple and effective method for evaluating trauma severity in children at the prehospital phase. ⋯ Pre-Hospital Pediatric Trauma Classification is a simple and reliable method for assessment, triage and recruitment of pediatric trauma resources.

Comparative StudyHypertonic saline and hemorrhagic shock: hepatocellular function and integrity after six hours of treatment.
The comparison after 6 h of hemorrhagic shock (HS) treatment with NaCl 7.5% (Hypertonic Saline Solution-SSH) or Ringer Lactate (RL) on liver function and integrity. ⋯ Resuscitation of HS with NaCl 7.5% promoted better recovery of liver function and lesser hepatocellular damage after 6 h of treatment compared to RL. The improvement is very likely related to increased microvascular perfusion provided by small volume resuscitation.
