High resolution magnetic susceptibility mapping of the substantia nigra in Parkinson's disease.
To determine if tissue magnetic susceptibility is a more direct marker of tissue iron content than other MR markers of iron. This study presents the first quantitative, in vivo measurements of the susceptibility of the substantia nigra in patients with Parkinson's disease. ⋯ Susceptibility mapping may provide a new tool for studying the development of Parkinson's disease.

ReviewNeuroimaging of pediatric posterior fossa tumors including review of the literature.
Conventional, anatomical MRI is an essential tool for diagnosis and evaluation of location, quality, and extent of posterior fossa tumors, but offers limited information regarding tumor grade and type. Advanced MRI techniques such as diffusion weighted imaging (DWI) and diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) may improve the specific diagnosis of brain tumors in the posterior fossa in children. In this review the conventional neuroimaging findings, as well as the DWI, and DTI characteristics of common pediatric posterior fossa tumors are discussed and summarized.

Diffusion-weighted MRI: role in detecting abdominopelvic internal fistulas and sinus tracts.
To retrospectively determine the incremental value of diffusion-weighted MR-imaging (DW-MRI) to T2-weighted (T2w) images in diagnosis of internal fistulas (IFs) and sinus tracts (STs). ⋯ DW-MRI showed additional value to T2w imaging for diagnosis of IF and ST. DW-MRI can be a useful adjunct, especially for patients with renal failure.
