Clinical TrialLongitudinal assessment of subcortical gray matter volume, cortical thickness, and white matter integrity in HIV-positive patients.
To longitudinally evaluate the cortical thickness and deep gray matter structures volume, measured from T1 three-dimensional (3D) Gradient echo-weighted imaging, and white matter integrity, assessed from diffusion tensor imaging (DTI) of HIV-positive patients. ⋯ No longitudinal differences in cortical thickness, deep gray matter volumes, or white matter integrity were observed in an HIV-positive population on stable HAART, with undetectable viral load and high CD4+ T lymphocytes count. Optimal combination of FLAIR and T2-weighted MRI for improved lesion contrast in multiple sclerosis.
Postacquisition combination of three-dimensional T2-weighted (T2w) and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR) images can improve the visualization of brain lesions in multiple sclerosis (MS). However, an optimal way to combine these images has not been described so far. The main objective of this study is to investigate an optimal combination of T2w and FLAIR to improve the conspicuity of MS lesions. ⋯ These results show that the optimized combination of FLAIR and T2w can improve MS lesion conspicuity. Intratumor partitioning and texture analysis of dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE)-MRI identifies relevant tumor subregions to predict pathological response of breast cancer to neoadjuvant chemotherapy.
To predict pathological response of breast cancer to neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) based on quantitative, multiregion analysis of dynamic contrast enhancement magnetic resonance imaging (DCE-MRI). ⋯ The heterogeneity of the tumor subregion associated with fast washout on DCE-MRI predicted pathological response to NAC in breast cancer. Sensitivity of MRI parameters within intervertebral discs to the severity of adolescent idiopathic scoliosis.
To measure magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) parameters including relaxation times (T1 ρ, T2 ), magnetization transfer (MT) and diffusion parameters (mean diffusivity [MD], fractional anisotropy [FA]) of intervertebral discs in adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis, and to investigate the sensitivity of these MR parameters to the severity of the spine deformities. ⋯ We successfully performed an in vivo multiparametric MRI investigation of young patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. The MRI parameters measured within the intervertebral discs were found to be sensitive to intervertebral disc degeneration occurring with scoliosis and to the severity of scoliosis. J. Magn. Reson. Quiet diffusion-weighted head scanning: Initial clinical evaluation in ischemic stroke patients at 1.5T.
To compare the quality and diagnostic value of routine single-shot, echo-planar imaging, diffusion-weighted imaging (ss-EPI-DWI) to those of quiet readout segmented EPI-DWI (q-DWI) in magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of acute stroke. ⋯ If the acoustic burden is critical to the patient, q-DWI is an equivalent quiet alternative to ss-EPI DWI for use in stroke patients.
