Assessment of fluctuating velocities in disturbed cardiovascular blood flow: in vivo feasibility of generalized phase-contrast MRI.
To evaluate the feasibility of generalized phase-contrast magnetic resonance imaging (PC-MRI) for the noninvasive assessment of fluctuating velocities in cardiovascular blood flow. ⋯ PC-MRI IVSD mapping is able to detect flow abnormalities in a variety of human cardiovascular conditions and shows promise for the quantitative assessment of turbulence. This approach may assist in clarifying the role of disturbed hemodynamics in cardiovascular diseases.

Dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) derived transfer coefficient (ktrans) is a surrogate marker of matrix metalloproteinase 9 (MMP-9) expression in brain tuberculomas.
To correlate dynamic contrast-enhanced (DCE) MRI derived perfusion indices with immunohistochemically obtained vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) in a cellular fraction of brain tuberculomas (BT). ⋯ We conclude that the expression of MMP-9, a marker of BBB disruption and disease activity in BT correlates with DCE-derived ktrans and thus has the potential to be used as its surrogate marker.

Double-reference cross-correlation algorithm for separation of the arteries and veins from 3D MRA time series.
To present a novel postprocessing technique for artery/vein separation and background suppression from contrast-enhanced time-resolved magnetic resonance angiography datasets in order to improve the diagnosis of vessel pathologies and arteriovenous fistulas. ⋯ This method can be helpful in the diagnosis of vascular diseases in subjects where bolus dispersion makes it difficult to discriminate between arteries and veins with standard methods (subtraction or correlation analysis).

Feasibility of diffusion-weighted imaging in the differentiation of metastatic from nonmetastatic lymph nodes: early experience.
To investigate the feasibility of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) in the differentiation of metastatic from nonmetastatic lymph nodes. ⋯ DWI is feasible for differentiating metastatic from nonmetastatic lymph nodes in patients with uterine cervical cancer.

Evaluation of locally recurrent pelvic malignancy: performance of T2- and diffusion-weighted MRI with image fusion.
To evaluate the performance of T2- and diffusion-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with image fusion for detection of locally recurrent pelvic malignancy. ⋯ For depicting locally recurrent pelvic malignancy, T2-DWI with image fusion outperforms standard T2-weighted FSE and DWI and is comparable to DCE fat-suppressed T1-weighted SPGR.
