Pulmonary MR perfusion at 3.0 Tesla using a blood pool contrast agent: Initial results in a swine model.
To prospectively evaluate the technical feasibility of a highly accelerated pulmonary MR perfusion protocol at 3.0T using a blood pool contrast agent in a swine model. ⋯ 3.0T pulmonary MR perfusion using a blood pool contrast agent in a swine model is feasible. The higher available signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) at 3.0T and the high T1 relaxivity of Gadomer-17 effectively support highly accelerated parallel acquisition, and improve the performance of time-resolved pulmonary MRA.

Dynamic imaging of contrast-enhanced coronary vessels with a magnetization prepared rotated stripe keyhole acquisition.
To evaluate dynamic coronary imaging based on a magnetization prepared contrast-enhanced (CE) rotated stripe keyhole acquisition scheme. ⋯ With efficient background suppression, a rotated stripes keyhole acquisition can efficiently acquire the significant k-space of a CE vessel, and provide improved vessel definition with a reduced acquisition matrices scheme.

Prostate cancer screening: the clinical value of diffusion-weighted imaging and dynamic MR imaging in combination with T2-weighted imaging.
To evaluate the clinical value of diffusion-weighted imaging (DWI) and dynamic MRI in combination with T2-weighted imaging (T2W) for the detection of prostate cancer. ⋯ In patients with elevated serum PSA levels, the combination of T2W, DWI, and dynamic MRI may be a valuable tool for detecting prostate cancer and avoiding an unnecessary biopsy without missing prostate cancer.

The fetal autopsy involves a series of investigations of the corpse, most of which are noninvasive and acceptable to the majority of parents and their physicians. The value of the perinatal autopsy is manyfold and well established, and the results can provide a basis for parental and family counseling, inform future obstetric management, and provide audit for prenatal care. ⋯ Growing evidence suggests that postmortem fetal MRI can assist the pathologist at autopsy, and in many cases can obviate the need for dissection or at least minimize and focus it. For the majority of cases in which no consent for surgical autopsy is given, MRI together with other noninvasive postmortem tests can provide a great deal of the information that was previously available only from autopsy.

Assessment of lung development using hyperpolarized helium-3 diffusion MR imaging.
To determine whether hyperpolarized helium-3 (HHe) diffusion MR can detect the expected enlargement of alveoli that occurs with lung growth during childhood. ⋯ HHe diffusion MR appears to detect the expected increase in alveolar size during childhood, and thus HHe MR may be a noninvasive method to assess development of the lung microstructure.
