The aim was to compare clinical outcomes of patients treated with totally robotic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (TRRYGB) with those treated with the different laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (LRYGB) techniques. The clinical benefit of the robotic approach to bariatric surgery compared to the standard laparoscopic approach is unclear. There are no studies directly comparing outcomes of TRRYGB with different LRYGB techniques. ⋯ TRRYGB increases operative time compared to all LRYGB techniques. TRRYGB was superior to LRYGB-21CS in terms of significantly shorter hospital stay, lower readmission rate, and less frequent GJA stricture formation. TRRYGB provides no clinical advantages over the LRYGB-LS and LRYGB-HS techniques.

Randomized Controlled Trial
LSG vs MGB-OAGB-3 Year Follow-up Data: a Randomised Control Trial.
The objective of this study is to compare 3-year follow-up results of one anastomosis gastric bypass (MGB-OAGB) and laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) in terms of weight loss, complications, resolution of comorbidities and quality of life. ⋯ In our study, at 36 months follow up, there was no significant difference between LSG and MGB-OAGB in %EWL and remission of HTN. Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) remission rates were higher after MGB-OAGB as compared to LSG but the difference was statistically insignificant. MGB-OAGB patients with comorbidities have a better quality of life and BAROS score compared to LSG patients.

Observational Study
Correlation of Neck Circumference with Difficult Mask Ventilation and Difficult Laryngoscopy in Morbidly Obese Patients: an Observational Study.
Mask ventilation and laryngoscopy can be challenging in morbidly obese patients because of excessive fat tissue. There are studies suggesting that neck circumference is associated with difficult mask ventilation, difficult laryngoscopy, and difficult intubation. The primary aim of our study is to evaluate predictive value of neck circumference for difficult mask ventilation and difficult laryngoscopy in female and male morbidly obese patients separately. ⋯ NCT02589015.

Obesity affects the elderly, leading to increased prevalence of age- and obesity-associated comorbidities. There are no guidelines for indications and risk assessment for the elderly undergoing bariatric surgery. ⋯ Elderly patients undergoing LSG usually have excellent postoperative course despite the associated high risk and the required ICU admission. The number of comorbidities, diagnosis of OSA, and ASA score are possible clinically significant predictive factors for the need of post-LSG ICU admission.
