Review Meta AnalysisRisk of spontaneous preterm birth in singleton pregnancies conceived after IVF/ICSI treatment: meta-analysis of cohort studies.
Preterm birth (PTB) is more common in pregnancies conceived by in-vitro fertilization (IVF) as compared with those conceived naturally. However, the extent to which this is attributed to spontaneous labor or to iatrogenic indications has not been determined. The aim of this study was to quantify the risk of spontaneous PTB (sPTB) in singleton pregnancies resulting from IVF or intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) treatment as compared with that in spontaneously conceived pregnancies. ⋯ The risk of sPTB in singleton pregnancies resulting from IVF/ICSI is significantly greater than that in spontaneously conceived singletons. These findings should be interpreted with caution given the low quality of the available evidence. Copyright © 2017 ISUOG. Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Review Meta AnalysisInfluence of cryopreservation on perinatal outcome after blastocyst- vs cleavage-stage embryo transfer: systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare the perinatal outcomes of singleton pregnancies resulting from blastocyst- vs cleavage-stage embryo transfer and to assess whether they differ between fresh and frozen embryo transfer cycles. ⋯ Our results suggest that cryopreservation of embryos can influence outcome of pregnancy conceived following blastocyst- vs cleavage-stage embryo transfer in terms of preterm birth, very preterm birth, LGA, SGA and perinatal mortality. Caution should be exercised in interpreting these findings given the low level of evidence and wide heterogeneity of the studies. Copyright © 2017 ISUOG. Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Progressive lesions of central nervous system in microcephalic fetuses with suspected congenital Zika virus syndrome.
To describe the pattern and progression of central nervous system (CNS) lesions in microcephalic fetuses with suspected Zika virus (ZIKV) infection. ⋯ The majority of cases of congenital ZIKV syndrome have other ultrasonographic findings in addition to microcephaly. ZIKV-related CNS anomalies present mainly as progressive CNS lesions and slowing rate of growth of the fetal head, and this seems to be evident only in the late second trimester, even when maternal infection occurs in the first trimester. Other ultrasound findings, such as ventriculomegaly, brain calcifications and posterior fossa destruction lesions, are also common in this congenital syndrome. Posterior fossa destruction lesions and arthrogryposis are an uncommon finding in other congenital infections, perhaps suggesting a novel severe congenital syndrome associated with fetal ZIKV. Observational StudyLevator ani muscle avulsion is a risk factor for expulsion within 1 year of vaginal pessary placed for pelvic organ prolapse.
The aim of this study was to investigate whether the presence of levator ani muscle (LAM) avulsion is associated with expulsion within 1 year of a vaginal pessary placed for pelvic organ prolapse (POP). ⋯ Women in whom a vaginal pessary was expelled within 1 year of placement for POP had a larger hiatus. Presence of LAM avulsion was associated with a three-fold increase in the risk of expulsion of a vaginal pessary within 1 year. Copyright © 2017 ISUOG. Published by John Wiley & Sons Ltd.

Prenatal diagnosis and prognosis of accelerated idioventricular rhythm.
As postnatal identification of accelerated idioventricular rhythm (AIVR) relies on specific electrocardiographic patterns, prenatal diagnosis of this condition is challenging and its true incidence is unknown. The objectives of this study were to evaluate the performance of prenatal ultrasonography in identifying intrauterine cardiocirculatory events linked to specific electrocardiographic signs of postnatal AIVR, including left or right ventricular origin, and to assess the prenatal prognosis of this arrhythmia. ⋯ Echocardiographic criteria required for postnatal diagnosis of AIVR can be documented in utero using specific ultrasonographic approaches. During fetal life, AIVR may not be a benign entity. Hydrops fetalis is frequently associated with AIVR because of increase in central venous pressure related to simultaneous atrioventricular contractions; thus, the ultrasonographic investigation protocol of fetuses with unexplained hydrops fetalis should aim at ruling out AIVR and include Doppler flow recordings in SVC/Ao, DV, AoI, DA and umbilical vein.
