Percutaneous minimally invasive fetoscopic surgery for spina bifida aperta. Part I: surgical technique and perioperative outcome.
To analyze the current technical approach of percutaneous minimal-access fetoscopic closure of spina bifida aperta (SBA) and provide an overview of its development in ovine and human fetuses. ⋯ Following an adequate learning curve, minimal-access fetoscopic surgery for fetal spina bifida can be performed with a high rate of technical success, regardless of placental position.

Percutaneous minimal-access fetoscopic surgery for spina bifida aperta. Part II: maternal management and outcome.
To assess maternal morbidity and outcome in women undergoing minimal-access fetoscopic surgery for spina bifida aperta. ⋯ Minimal-access fetoscopic surgery for spina bifida aperta is apparently safe for most maternal patients. Despite the common occurrence of amniotic leakage, the majority of women deliver beyond 32 weeks of gestation.

Prenatal unilateral cerebellar hypoplasia in a series of 26 cases: significance and implications for prenatal diagnosis.
To define imaging patterns of unilateral cerebellar hypoplasia (UCH), discuss possible pathophysiological mechanisms and underline the etiology and prognosis associated with these lesions. ⋯ UCH is defined as a focal lesion of the cerebellum that may be secondary to hemorrhage and/or ischemic insult, suggesting a clastic origin, particularly when imaging follow-up reveals changes over time. UCH may also be a clue for the prenatal diagnosis of PHACE syndrome. The amount of surface loss of cerebellar hemisphere does not correlate with poor prognosis. UCH with normal vermis is often associated with normal outcome.

Economic analysis of use of pessary to prevent preterm birth in women with multiple pregnancy (ProTWIN trial).
To assess the cost-effectiveness of a cervical pessary to prevent preterm delivery in women with a multiple pregnancy. ⋯ Cervical pessaries in women with a multiple pregnancy involve costs comparable to those in women without pessary treatment. However, in women with a CL < 38 mm, treatment with a cervical pessary appears to be highly cost-effective.
