Ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation of symptomatic uterine fibroids: short-term evaluation of effect of treatment on quality of life and symptom severity.
To evaluate the feasibility of ultrasound-guided radiofrequency ablation (USgRFA) for the treatment of women with symptomatic uterine fibroids in relation to volume of fibroid. ⋯ USgRFA reduces fibroid symptom and size even in patients with larger fibroids. USgRFA is a promising new treatment for fibroids in gynecological settings and should be further investigated.

Comparative StudyPostmortem examination of human fetal hearts at or below 20 weeks' gestation: a comparison of high-field MRI at 9.4 T with lower-field MRI magnets and stereomicroscopic autopsy.
To compare the diagnostic usefulness of high-field with low-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and stereomicroscopic autopsy for examination of the heart in fetuses at or under 20 weeks' gestation. ⋯ High-field MRI at 9.4 T seems to be an acceptable alternative approach to invasive stereomicroscopic autopsy for fetuses with CHD at or below 20 weeks' gestation.

Multicenter StudyLesion size affects diagnostic performance of IOTA logistic regression models, IOTA simple rules and risk of malignancy index in discriminating between benign and malignant adnexal masses.
To estimate the ability to discriminate between benign and malignant adnexal masses of different size using: subjective assessment, two International Ovarian Tumor Analysis (IOTA) logistic regression models (LR1 and LR2), the IOTA simple rules and the risk of malignancy index (RMI). ⋯ Tumor size affects the performance of subjective assessment, LR1 and LR2, the IOTA simple rules and the RMI in discriminating correctly between benign and malignant adnexal masses. The likely explanation, at least in part, is the difference in histology among tumors of different size.

Agreement and reliability of pelvic floor measurements during contraction using three-dimensional pelvic floor ultrasound and virtual reality.
Virtual reality is a novel method of visualizing ultrasound data with the perception of depth and offers possibilities for measuring non-planar structures. The levator ani hiatus has both convex and concave aspects. The aim of this study was to compare levator ani hiatus volume measurements obtained with conventional three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound and with a virtual reality measurement technique and to establish their reliability and agreement. ⋯ Levator ani hiatus volume measurements performed using virtual reality were reliable and the results were similar to those obtained with conventional 3D ultrasonography.

Prevalence of levator ani muscle injury in Chinese women after first delivery.
To assess the prevalence of levator ani muscle injury in Chinese women after their first delivery and investigate associated factors. ⋯ The prevalence of levator ani muscle injury in Chinese women after their first vaginal delivery was 21.7% (95% CI, 16.7-26.7%). Operative vaginal delivery was found to increase the likelihood of women suffering such injury. A longer follow-up of these women and future studies on the effects of episiotomy are proposed.
