Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyPrevention of preterm delivery in twin gestations (PREDICT): a multicenter, randomized, placebo-controlled trial on the effect of vaginal micronized progesterone.
Studies on high-risk singleton gestations have shown a preventive effect of progesterone treatment on preterm delivery. This study was conducted to investigate the preventive effect of vaginal micronized progesterone in a large population of twin gestations. ⋯ Progesterone treatment did not prevent preterm delivery in twin gestations. There were no harmful effects to fetuses and infants of maternal progesterone treatment.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyVaginal progesterone reduces the rate of preterm birth in women with a sonographic short cervix: a multicenter, randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Women with a sonographic short cervix in the mid-trimester are at increased risk for preterm delivery. This study was undertaken to determine the efficacy and safety of using micronized vaginal progesterone gel to reduce the risk of preterm birth and associated neonatal complications in women with a sonographic short cervix. ⋯ The administration of vaginal progesterone gel to women with a sonographic short cervix in the mid-trimester is associated with a 45% reduction in the rate of preterm birth before 33 weeks of gestation and with improved neonatal outcome.

Prediction of delivery mode with transperineal ultrasound in women with prolonged first stage of labor.
To investigate if fetal head-perineum distance and angle of progression measured with two-dimensional (2D) and three-dimensional (3D) transperineal ultrasound could predict outcome of labor in primiparous women with prolonged first stage of labor. ⋯ Fetal head-perineum distance and angle of progression measured with 2D or 3D ultrasound can predict labor outcome, with similar predictive values for the two techniques.

To examine the diagnostic precision of ultrasound examination for placenta accreta in women with placenta previa and to compare the morbidity associated with accreta to that of previa alone. ⋯ Placenta accreta is associated with greater morbidity than is placenta previa alone. Ultrasound examination is a good diagnostic test for accreta in women with placenta previa. This is consistent with most other studies in the literature.
