Prognostic factors in severe twin-twin transfusion syndrome treated by endoscopic laser surgery.
The aim of this study was to investigate clinical and sonographic parameters, in particular Doppler blood flow measurements, in severe second-trimester twin-twin transfusion syndrome before and after endoscopic laser coagulation of the placental vascular anastomoses, to correlate these data with fetal outcome and to determine whether fetal blood flow measurements could help to estimate the probability of fetal survival. ⋯ Fetoscopic laser coagulation of the placental vascular anastomoses in severe mid-trimester twin-twin transfusion is a potentially corrective and effective, minimally invasive procedure. Doppler investigation of the umbilical and fetal circulations provides important information on the fetal condition, prognosis and therapeutic effects of the intervention. Signs of congestive heart failure in the recipient may reduce the probability of survival, whereas increased placental resistance in the donor before the procedure is not necessarily associated with a reduction in the probability of survival after laser coagulation.

Case ReportsIntrauterine sling: a complication of the stuck twin syndrome.
Stuck twin syndrome usually presents with polyhydramnios in the recipient sac and severe oligohydramnios in the donor sac. The donor is displaced against the uterine wall and remains adherent in that position. We present a case in which the diagnosis was more complicated, owing to the suspension of the stuck twin by a sling within the sac of the recipient. ⋯ The sling band represented the intertwin membrane that was folded upon itself. Amniotic fluid from the recipient twin was present in three dimensions around the stuck twin, except for the sling band. The suspension of the stuck twin by a sling within the amniotic fluid of the recipient is an unusual manifestation of the stuck twin syndrome.

Review Case ReportsResolution of presumed arachnoid cyst in utero.
We present a case of presumed arachnoid cyst that was diagnosed at 18.5 weeks' gestation, developed a hematoma at 28 weeks and had virtually resolved by 32 weeks. Expectant management of antenatally diagnosed cases is suggested.

Comparative StudyComparative study of transvaginal ultrasonography and CA 125 in the preoperative evaluation of myometrial invasion in endometrial carcinoma.
To compare the ability of transvaginal sonography and serum CA 125 levels to predict myometrial invasion in patients with endometrial carcinoma. ⋯ Our results indicate that transvaginal ultrasonography is more sensitive than CA 125 in predicting myometrial invasion in endometrial cancer.

Comparative Study Clinical TrialThe assessment of endometrial pathology and tubal patency: a comparison between the use of ultrasonography and X-ray hysterosalpingography for the investigation of infertility patients.
The aim of the present study was to examine the role of hysterosalpingocontrast sonography (HyCoSy) as a screening test for endometrial and tubal pathology at the start of the infertility investigation protocol. ⋯ Our data demonstrate that HyCoSy obtains similar information about the status of the endometrial cavity and Fallopian tube patency to that of HSG. It is possible that in some cases HyCoSy may replace HSG in order to select women with patent tubes who may be suitable for further infertility treatment without more invasive investigation.
