Review[Intracranial hypertension in various brain diseases - Specific therapy and outcome].
Elevated intracranial pressure (ICP) in various brain diseases has for long time been treated according to guidelines for traumatic brain injury. First data of randomized study reveal, that specific treatment options like decompressive craniectomy, hyperosmotic agents, hyperventilation, hypothermia and steroids should have specific indications to control elevated ICP in future. In general, optimal ICP-treatment should also target sufficient cerebral perfusion and oxygenation.

[Multimodal neuromonitoring - indications and methodes].
Managing patients after severe traumatic brain injury and aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage is a challenging task of modern intensive care. Most patients do require sedation for mechanical ventilation due to respiratory distress or treatment of increased intracranial pressure. Besides standard ICP monitoring, a variety of continuous monitoring technologies for bedside use exists. The paper discusses the 5 methods most frequently used and their significance for multimodal neuromonitoring.

[Emergency caesarean section and interdisciplinary emergency concepts for the delivery room - "What to do if it is urgent?"].
Resolute and rapid action in obstetric emergencies is essential for the child and/or maternal survival. Therefore emergency caesarean section and the emergency actions for peripartal haemorrhage, shoulder dystocia, fetal bradycardia, hypertension and embolism should be interdisciplinarily coordinated. ⋯ Emergency concepts should include the alarm- procedure, communication, logistics, the priority steps in therapy as well as the analysis of the passed obstetric emergency. A regular interdisciplinary training of the major obstetric emergencies may help to avoid unnecessary loss of time.

Case Reports[Case report - Tako-Tsubo Syndrom].
A 69-year-old woman reported that underwent endonasal frontal sinus surgery under general anesthesia. In her medical history the patient reports a multiple occurrence of angina pectoris attacks, especially in stressful situations. Coronary heart disease has so far been excluded. ⋯ Coronary angiography showed left ventricular apical ballooning with a transient akinesia typical of the left ventricle, as is seen in a Tako-Tsubo syndrome. The symptoms are similar to acute coronary artery disease, but without stenosis of coronary arteries. Physical or emotional stress is known to trigger Tako-Tsubo Syndrome, but the exact etiology or pathophysiology remains somewhat unclear.
