Review[Alternative airwaymanagement in theprehospitalsetting].
Airway management in the prehospital setting is a particular challenge. Even with numerous alternative devices, endotracheal intubation still represents the gold standard. ⋯ For the management of the difficult airway emergency physicians can use alternatives to tracheal intubation such as extraglottic airway devices, videolaryngoscopy and cricothyroidotomy. Both direct laryngoscopy as well as the use of alternative devices require experience and continuous training.

Review[Perioperative management of patients equipped with cardiac implanted electronic devices].
Anaesthetists are in increasing frequency confronted with patients equipped with cardiac implantable electrical devices. A consensus conference standardized the handling of such patients for elective cases. ⋯ However, risks associated with electrocautery or electromagnetic interference can be easily handled applying a significantly easier approach. Telemetric reprogramming and/or postoperative interrogation of the cardiac implanted eletronical device can be avoided in most cases.

Since 5000 years tracheotomy is a common way for airway management. Generally, Tracheotomy will be divided in a surgical tracheotomy the percutaneous Tracheotomy. The surgical Tracheotomy takes place in the operation theater. ⋯ The gist of every method is the seldinger procedure. Bronchoscopic supervision during the whole procedure is one of the most important things to prevent complications. However percutaneous and surgical tracheotomy are safe and have a low rate of complications.

[Organization of an anaesthesia preoperative evaluation clinic - The Anaesthesia/Patient Blood Management Clinic: one Model].
The anesthesia preoperative evaluation has been developed in recent years in a centralized clinic, that can be visited by the majority of patients, in order to evaluate and obtain patient's consent for anesthesia. In the current article, the organization and structure of such a central anesthesia preoperative evaluation clinic in the Department of Anesthesia, Intensive Care and Pain Medicine at the University Hospital of Muenster, is described. ⋯ A pharmaceutical evaluation for patient's medication and the patient blood management have been integrated into the anesthesia preoperative evaluation clinic. Processes are explained and current numbers of patients are mentioned.
