To determine the epidemiology of heart failure registered in primary healthcare clinical records in Catalunya, Spain, between 2010 and 2014, focusing on incidence, mortality, and resource utilization. ⋯ Heart failure incidence increases with age, is greater in men, and remains stable. Mortality continues to be high in newly diagnosed patients in spite of the current improvements in treatment. Home visits represent the greatest cost for the management of this disease in primary care setting.

Observational Study
[Pharmacological treatment of the heart failure according to the ventricular ejection fraction in primary care].
Despite better diagnoses and treatments, heart failure (HF) is an important cause of death in Spain. The objective of this study is to describe the characteristics and treatment of a population with chronic HF classified according to the left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF). Population-based observational cohort study in Primary Health Care. ⋯ Having information on LVEF could guide its pharmacological management. The HF population has persistent cardiovascular risk factors and habits. Treatment and population characteristics of patients with HFmEF are similar to those with HFrEF.

Human schistosomiasis is the parasitic disease with the highest morbidity and mortality worldwide after malaria. It is endemic in more than 78 tropical and subtropical countries, especially in sub-Saharan Africa, and it is estimated that 236 million people are infected. It can cause serious health complications at the genitourinary and hepatosplenic level, leading to the death of 300,000 people each year. ⋯ For all these reasons, the European health authorities have recommended serological screening for the disease in all migrants from endemic areas who have been living in Europe for less than 5 years. Since Primary Care is usually the first point of contact for these people with the Health System, doctors must know the main aspects of the disease, and be provided with the necessary means for its diagnosis and treatment. This document has been prepared by professionals belonging to five scientific societies of Primary Care (SEMFyC, SEMG, SEMERGEN), Pediatrics (SEIP) and Tropical Medicine and International Health (SEMTSI), in order to establish clear recommendations for the diagnosis and management of schistosomiasis in Primary Care.
