ReviewNarrative review of clinical practice guidelines for treating people with moderate or severe traumatic brain injury.
Practice guidelines (CPGs) provide informed treatment recommendations from systematic reviews and assessment of the benefits and harms that are intended to optimize patient care. Review of CPGs addressing rehabilitation for people with moderate/severe traumatic brain injury (TBI), has not been fully investigated. ⋯ There are few CPGs addressing rehabilitation for people with moderate/severe TBI. More interventional trials are needed to determine treatment effectiveness. Timely and methodologically sound vetting of studies are needed to ensure CPG reliability and facilitate access to quality, effective treatment for people with moderate/severe TBI.

ReviewAre epidural corticosteroid injections effective for lumbosacral radicular pain? A Cochrane Review summary with commentary.
Epidural corticosteroid injection is one of the most common non-surgical procedures for lumbosacral radicular pain. ⋯ Epidural corticosteroid injection is slightly more effective than placebo for leg pain and disability at short-term follow up. Clinicians and patients however should be informed of the small effect size of the treatment.

While non-headache, non-oral craniofacial neuralgia is relatively rare in incidence and prevalence, it can result in debilitating pain. Understanding the relevant anatomy of peripheral branches of nerves, natural history, clinical presentation, and management strategies will help the clinician better diagnose and treat craniofacial neuralgias. This article will review the nerves responsible for neuropathic pain in periorbital, periauricular, and occipital regions, distinct from idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia. ⋯ Periauricular neuralgia may involve the auriculotemporal nerve, the great auricular nerve, and the nervus intermedius. The greater occipital nerve, lesser occipital nerve, and third occipital nerve transmit occipital neuralgias. A wide range of treatment options exist, from modalities to surgery, and the evidence behind each is reviewed.

ReviewScoping review of clinical rehabilitation research pertaining to traumatic brain injury: 1990-2016.
Understanding the impact of disease on function and improving functional outcomes is an important goal of rehabilitation. This scoping review analyzes 25 years of published traumatic brain injury (TBI) clinical rehabilitation research (CRR) to determine the frequency with which function is a research goal. ⋯ This scoping review identifies a need for additional types of clinical research in the field of TBI CRR. Much of the research is aimed at mitigating impairment and controlling symptoms rather than promoting function. Future efforts by the CRR community studying TBI should address this need.

ReviewAre the treatments for chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (CIDP) effective and safe? - A Cochrane Overview summary with commentary.
Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) is a potentially disabling health condition. ⋯ High quality trials investigating the combined effectiveness of drugs and exercise using ICF based outcomes should be encouraged.
