To investigate the diagnostic value of whole-body magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) including diffusion-weighted imaging with background signal suppression (DWIBS) for preoperative assessment of non-small-cell lung cancer (NSCLC) in comparison to (18)F-fluorodeoxyglucose (18)FDG) positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT). ⋯ Numerous radiological methods are available for the crucial staging of lung cancer. Whole-body DWIBS MRI provides comparable results to PET/CT in NSCLC staging. No evident superiority of whole-body DWIBS over PET/CT in NSCLC staging. Challenges for both techniques are T-staging and detection of small metastases.

To evaluate the safety and efficacy of magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound (MRgFUS) to treat facet joint osteoarthritis pain. ⋯ Magnetic resonance-guided focused ultrasound offers non-invasive therapy for facet joint pain. MRgFUS appears to be an effective and safe thermal ablation technique for facet joint pain. Real-time image control and thermal feedback minimise complications. MRgFUS allows outpatient management of facet joint osteoarthritic low back pain.

In transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI), assessment of the aortic annulus is mandatory. We sought to investigate the correlation between trans-oesophageal echocardiography (TEE) and multi-detector computed tomography (MDCT) for annulus diameter assessment before TAVI. ⋯ Accurate assessment of aortic annulus before transcatheter aortic valve implantation is crucial. Trans-oesophageal echocardiography has been the preferred method for aortic annulus assessment. We demonstrated a strong correlation between TEE and CT for annulus dimensions. CT reliably demonstrates the non-circular shape of the aortic annulus. CT could therefore be generally used for aortic annulus assessment before TAVI.

To evaluate percutaneous computed tomography (CT)-guided intracystic and intra-articular steroid injections for the treatment of lumbar facet joint cyst causing radicular pain. ⋯ Lumbar facet joint cysts are a common feature of back and radicular pain. They may be treated effectively by interventional radiologists using CT guidance. Percutaneous treatment using double injections can save surgery in 75% of patients.
