The diagnostic reading of follow-up low-dose whole-body computed tomography (WBCT) examinations in patients with multiple myeloma (MM) is a demanding process. This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic accuracy and benefit of a novel software program providing rapid-subtraction maps for bone lesion change detection. ⋯ • A novel algorithm has been successfully applied to generate motion-corrected bone subtraction maps of whole-body low-dose CT scans in less than 2 min. • Motion-corrected bone subtraction maps significantly facilitate the reading of follow-up whole-body low-dose CT scans in multiple myeloma by reducing reading time and increasing sensitivity.

To evaluate the implications of hepatic subcapsular and capsular flows using ultrasonography (US) in children after Kasai operation. ⋯ • Hepatic subcapsular or capsular flows can be useful not only for the diagnosis but also for the postoperative follow-up in patients with biliary atresia. • Increased liver stiffness and splenomegaly after the Kasai operation were associated with presence of subcapsular or capsular flow on ultrasonography. • Evaluation of hepatic subcapsular and capsular flows could be needed to assess disease progression after receiving the Kasai operation.

Comparison of interlaminar CT-guided epidural platelet-rich plasma versus steroid injection in patients with lumbar radicular pain.
The treatment of persistent lumbar radicular pain (LRP) by CT-guided epidural steroid injection (ESI) is extensively used and associated with rare but serious complications. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP), which has recently been shown to favor healing and the anti-inflammatory process by delivering growth factors and cytokines, might be an alternative and potentially safer option. We compared the efficacy of interlaminar CT-guided epidural PRP injections (EPRPI) and ESI in the treatment of persistent LRP (> 6 weeks). ⋯ • Treatment of persistent lumbar radicular pain by CT-guided epidural steroid injections is associated with rare but serious complications. • By promoting an anti-inflammatory process, epidural platelet-rich plasma injections might be an alternative treatment of persistent radicular pain. • Platelet-rich plasma CT-guided epidural injections are similar to steroid for the treatment of lumbar radicular pain at 6 weeks post-procedure and could be a safer option.

This study aimed to validate a deep learning model's diagnostic performance in using computed tomography (CT) to diagnose cervical lymph node metastasis (LNM) from thyroid cancer in a large clinical cohort and to evaluate the model's clinical utility for resident training. ⋯ • A deep learning-based CAD system for CT diagnosis of cervical LNM from thyroid cancer was validated using data from a clinical cohort. The AUROC for the eight tested algorithms ranged from 0.784 to 0.884. • Of the eight models, the Xception algorithm was the best performing model for the external validation dataset with 0.884 AUROC. The accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value were 82.8%, 80.2%, 83.0%, 83.0%, and 80.2%, respectively. • The CAD system exhibited potential to improve diagnostic specificity and accuracy in underperforming trainees (3 of 6 trainees, 50.0%). This approach may have clinical utility as a training tool to help trainees to gain confidence in diagnoses.

• Novel coronavirus (COVID-19)-infected pneumonia usually manifests as bilateral ground-glass opacities in the lung periphery on chest CT scans. • Role of radiologists includes not only early detection of lung abnormality, but also suggestion of disease severity, potential progression to acute respiratory distress syndrome, and possible bacterial co-infection in hospitalized patients.
