There is a rich amount of quantitative information in spectral datasets generated from dual-energy CT (DECT). In this study, we compare the performance of texture analysis performed on multi-energy datasets to that of virtual monochromatic images (VMIs) at 65 keV only, using classification of the two most common benign parotid neoplasms as a testing paradigm. ⋯ • We present and validate a paradigm for texture analysis of DECT scans. • Multi-energy dataset texture analysis is superior to single-energy dataset texture analysis. • DECT texture analysis has high accura\cy for diagnosis of benign parotid tumours. • DECT texture analysis with machine learning can enhance non-invasive diagnostic tumour evaluation.

The aim of this study was to investigate the radiation dose and image quality of a whole-body low-dose CT (WBLDCT) using spectral shaping at 100 kV (Sn 100 kV) for the assessment of osteolytic lesions in patients with multiple myeloma. ⋯ • Spectral shaping using tin filtration is beneficial for whole-body low-dose CT • Sn 100 kV yields sufficient image quality for depiction of osteolytic lesions • Whole-body low-dose CT can be performed with a median dose of 1.5 mSv.

Efficacy of ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy in cervical lymphadenopathy: A retrospective study of 6,695 cases.
To determine the diagnostic yield of ultrasound-guided core needle biopsy (US-CNB) in cervical lymphadenopathy and identify the factors influencing the diagnostic accuracy of US-CNB. ⋯ • US-CNB is useful for the diagnosis of cervical lymphadenopathy. • US-CNB is safe to perform on lymph nodes located near vital structures. • Larger, malignant, level IV lymph nodes yield sufficient tissue samples more easily.

To evaluate the feasibility of whole-body diffusion-weighted MRI (WB-DWI/MRI) for detecting primary tumour, nodal and distant metastases in pregnant women with cancer. ⋯ • In our study, WB-DWI/MRI was more accurate than conventional imaging during pregnancy. • WB-DWI/MRI improves diagnostic assessment of patients with cancer during pregnancy. • Accurate imaging and oncologic staging improves treatment and outcome.

To investigate the additional value of cervical ultrasonography over 18F-FDG PET/CT for diagnosing cervical lymph node metastases in patients with newly diagnosed oesophageal cancer. ⋯ • Cervical ultrasonography has no value over PET/CT in evaluating cervical node metastases. • PET/CT provides greater diagnostic confidence compared to cervical ultrasonography. • Cervical ultrasonography during standard diagnostic work-up may be considered unnecessary. • Cervical lesions on PET/CT require cytopathological confirmation by FNA.
