Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasonographic imaging of the effects of continuous, pulsed or sham ultrasound treatments on carpal tunnel syndrome: A randomized controlled study.
Clinical and electrophysiological effects of therapeutic ultrasound (US) were researched in many studies on patients with CTS with conflicting results. ⋯ According to the results of this study, continuous, pulsed or sham US treatments combined with splinting had similar effects on clinical, electrophysiological and ultrasonographic imaging improvements. Additionally, ultrasonographic imaging may be a preferable objective evaluation tool to prove the early posttreatment clinical improvements when electrophysiological changes could not be detected.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound combined transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (UltraTENS) versus phonophoresis of piroxicam (PhP) in symptomatic knee osteoarthritis: A randomized double-blind, controlled trial.
Ultrasound combined with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (UltraTENS) and phonophoresis of piroxicam (PhP) are combined modality therapy that frequently used in musculoskeletal pain including knee osteoarthritis (OA). But it is lack of a good clinical trial to prove and compare their effects. ⋯ Results show that UltraTENS and PhP were effective for relieving pain and improve functionality knee OA without significant differences between their effects.

Prevalence of low back pain among athletes: A systematic review.
The prevalence of low back pain (LBP) in athletes across a variety of time frames and sports is not known. ⋯ Like general population, LBP is quite prevalent among athletes. There is a lack of sound data on the prevalence and mechanism of LBP in some popular sports such as volleyball, swimming and track and field. The lack of standardization of research methods and outcome measurement tools are significant problems in literature. Researchers need to use standard and internationally acceptable definitions for LBP and related functional disability. Investigators are encouraged to conduct epidemiologic studies, along with search for possible mechanism of LBP, by recruitment of large sample population of the athletes who are selected through randomization of the national population and adopt recent recommendations for a standard definition of LBP.

Treatment of chronic back pain using indirect vibroacoustic therapy: A pilot study.
Low frequency sound wave stimulation therapy has become increasingly popular in the rehabilitation fields, due to its ease, less fatiguing and time efficient application. ⋯ The preliminary findings showed that passive application of low frequency sound wave stimulation therapy through both hands and feet was effective in alleviating pain and improving functional ability in patients with chronic back pain.

Relationship of hematologic markers with IL-17 and IL-1 beta in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
In this study, we aimed to investigate the relationship of NLR (Neutrophil lymphocyte ratio), MPV (mean platelet volume), PDW (distribution width) rates in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) patients with IL-17 and IL-1 beta which are within the cytokines playing an important role in etiopathogenesis and activity of the disease. ⋯ In this study, we investigated the relationship of IL-17 and IL-1 beta which play an important role in pathogenesis of RA patients with the parameters analyzed in routine complete blood count, providing information about disease activity such as DAS 28, CRP, and ESR. We illuminated on an issue which has not discussed before by looking from a different angle. More extensive, follow-up studies are needed to emphasize the importance of these parameters and to reveal the relationship between cytokines during the follow-up of the disease activity.
