ReviewImmuno-oncology and Its Opportunities for Interventional Radiologists: Immune Checkpoint Inhibition and Potential Synergies with Interventional Oncology Procedures.
Immunotherapy, specifically the use of immune checkpoint inhibitors, offers a new approach to fighting cancer. Although the results of treatment with immune checkpoint inhibition alone have been remarkable for certain cancers, these results are not universal. Preclinical and early clinical studies indicate the potential for synergistic effects when immune checkpoint inhibition is combined with immunogenic local therapies such as ablation and embolization. This review offers an overview of immunology as it relates to immune checkpoint inhibition and the possibilities for synergy when combined with interventional radiology treatments.

Is a Technetium-99m Macroaggregated Albumin Scan Essential in the Workup for Selective Internal Radiation Therapy with Yttrium-90? An Analysis of 532 Patients.
To determine if baseline patient, tumor, and pretreatment evaluation characteristics could help identify patients who require technetium-99m (99mTc) macroaggregated albumin (99mTc MAA) imaging before selective internal radiation therapy (SIRT). ⋯ Imaging with 99mTc MAA is essential in SIRT workup because baseline characteristics may not adequately predict 99mTc MAA results. Nevertheless, the absence of vascular invasion potentially identifies a group of patients at low risk of SIRT contraindication/modification in whom performing SIRT in a single session (ie, pretreatment evaluation and SIRT on the same day) should be explored.

Image-Guided Percutaneous Omental and Mesenteric Biopsy: Assessment of Technical Success Rate and Diagnostic Yield.
To assess biopsy technique, technical success rate, and diagnostic yield of image-guided percutaneous biopsy of omental and mesenteric lesions. ⋯ Image-guided percutaneous omental and mesenteric biopsies have high technical success rates and diagnostic yield regardless of lesion size or depth from the skin for both omental and mesenteric specimens.

Transarterial Chemoembolization with Small Drug-Eluting Beads in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma: Experience from a Cohort of 421 Patients at an Italian Center.
To assess the safety, tolerability, and efficacy of small drug-eluting embolic (DEE) agents (70-150 μm) for chemoembolization of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). ⋯ Chemoembolization with small DEE agents is well tolerated and an effective treatment for a broad range of patients with liver-confined HCC.

To compare the technical and clinical effectiveness of ultrasound-accelerated endovascular thrombolysis (USAT) versus pigtail catheter-directed thrombolysis (PCDT) for the treatment of acute pulmonary embolism (PE). ⋯ USAT and PCDT demonstrated comparable effectiveness and safety in the treatment of patients with acute PE.
