Clinical Characteristics of Retroviral Rebound Syndrome: A Case Report and Literature Review.
We herein report a case of retroviral rebound syndrome (RRS) complicated with hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis. Owing to the paucity of comprehensive data on RRS, we also conducted a literature review. ⋯ Although life-threatening complications were reported, the overall prognosis was favorable. The outcomes of this review aided in the diagnosis of the present case.

Multiple Metastatic Extra-gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors with Plasmoid Differentiation: A Case Report and Review of Literature.
Extra-gastrointestinal stromal tumors (EGISTs) are rare mesenchymal tumors that arise from the abdominal, pelvic or retroperitoneal region, unrelated to the gastrointestinal tract. However, cases with a plasmoid morphology are extremely rare. we hererin report a 49-year-old man with abdominal pain who underwent magnetic resonance imaging that revealed an irregular tumor (103×71 mm) in size, in the space between stomach and pancreas, diagnosed as an EGISIT, we also reviewed the clinicopathological characteristics and immunohistochemical characteristics, molecular genetic features and differential diagnoses previously reported in the literature.

Non-traumatic False Cyst of the Spleen: A Case Report and Review of the Literature.
False cysts have no cellular lining and usually originate from past abdominal trauma. We herein report a 23-year-old woman with an asymptomatic splenic false cyst. She had no history of abdominal trauma. ⋯ Although the images were not typical of a splenic false cyst, the surgically excised mass histologically showed a splenic false cyst (no epithelial element). Non-traumatic splenic false cysts are rare and show nonspecific clinical findings and symptoms. The recommended treatment is splenectomy.

Podocyte-specific Transcription Factors: Could MafB become a Therapeutic Target for Kidney Disease?
The increasing number of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) is being recognized as an emerging global health problem. Recently, it has become clear that injury and loss of glomerular visceral epithelial cells, known as podocytes, is a common early event in many forms of CKD. Podocytes are highly specialized epithelial cells that cover the outer layer of the glomerular basement membrane. ⋯ We previously reported that the transcription factor MafB regulates the podocyte slit diaphragm protein production and transcription factor Tcf21. We showed that the forced expression of MafB was able to prevent CKD. In this review, we discuss recent advances and offer an updated overview of the functions of podocyte-specific transcription factors in kidney biology, aiming to present new perspectives on the progression of CKD and respective therapeutic strategies.

Hemodialysis Patient with Streptococcal Toxic Shock Syndrome and Penile Necrosis: A Case Report.
A 72-year-old man on hemodialysis due to diabetic nephropathy presented with a fever and penile pain. Although his physical examination was unremarkable, his general condition deteriorated. ⋯ Autopsy suggested penile necrosis due to septic shock. STSS in hemodialysis patients with vascular calcification, even in the absence of calciphylaxis, can lead to severe organ damage due to ischemia.
