A perforation of Meckel's diverticulum (MD) by foreign bodies is an extremely rare cause of acute abdomen in children. We herein present a rare case of perforation of Meckel's diverticulum in a child after swallowing an alkaline button battery that contained lithium.

Spontaneous pneumomediastinum is an uncommon, self-limiting condition resulting from alveolar rupture in young adults. Because of the ambiguous presentation and the general lack of awareness of this condition, its diagnosis is often delayed, missed, or confused with spontaneous esophageal perforation. ⋯ Ultimately, we diagnosed spontaneous pneumomediastinum in all six patients, who recovered uneventfully without any surgical intervention. We review the literature with particular emphasis on differentiating spontaneous pneumomediastinum from spontaneous esophageal perforation.

Impending rupture of a blunt trauma-induced left ventricular aneurysm: report of a case.
Most left ventricular true aneurysms that occur secondary to blunt trauma gradually become symptomatic as they enlarge, which validates conservative management as a reasonable initial course of action. We report a case of impending rupture of a left ventricular true aneurysm that showed rapid expansion within a few weeks. A 17-year-old youth was involved in a head-on collision into a car while riding a motorcycle. ⋯ Echocardiography showed impending rupture of a left ventricular aneurysm. We performed emergency open repair of a left ventricular true aneurysm with a very thin wall. We report this case to show that even a true aneurysm of the left ventricle should be carefully monitored from the early stage, considering the possibility of rupture.

Intestinal volvulus and perforation caused by multiple magnet ingestion: report of a case.
Ingested magnets can cause intestinal fistulas, perforation, and obstruction. There have been reports of magnet ingestion causing intestinal volvulus, but multiple magnet ingestion causing perforation and intestinal volvulus in a child is very unusual. We report the case of a 4-year-old girl, who ingested four magnets she acquired as toys, which caused intestinal volvulus and perforation as a result of pressure necrosis, several days after ingestion. ⋯ The patient was discharged on postoperative day 10. If multiple magnet ingestion is suspected in a child, the child must be monitored carefully. If there are signs of obstruction, emergency surgery is mandatory.

Invasive lymphangioma of the lung manifesting as a large pulmonary mass with hemoptysis: report of a case.
Solitary lymphangioma of the lung is rare. We report a case of invasive lymphangioma of the lung, diagnosed in a 9-year-old girl who presented with intractable hemoptysis and a large pulmonary mass, 10 cm in diameter. We performed left lower lobectomy and lingular segmentectomy to remove the mass completely and the patient has been well for 3 years since. ⋯ Irregular and dilated vascular and lymphatic vessels, as well as fibrosis of the interstitium, were spreading into the adjacent lung parenchyma, demonstrating their invasive nature. A new monoclonal antibody, D2-40, which reacts with lymphatic endothelium, proved useful for establishing the pathological diagnosis. We suggest that these pathological findings might be consistent with the intermediate type of localized lymphangioma of the lung and diffuse lymphangiomatosis.
