To estimate and evaluate the sensitivity and specificity of providers' diagnosis codes and medication lists to identify outpatient visits by patients with diabetes. ⋯ Providers' diagnosis codes and medication lists fail to identify approximately one quarter of outpatient visits by patients with diabetes.
