'It's interesting how few people die from smoking': tobacco industry efforts to minimize risk and discredit health promotion.
It is well known that the tobacco industry has placed articles in scientific literature to maintain controversy over the dangers of tobacco use, while claiming that smokers are well-informed about risk. This study illuminates an industry attempt to directly undermine popular understanding of the hazards of smoking using an industry-created organization called Associates for Research in the Science of Enjoyment (ARISE). ⋯ ARISE successfully planted stories in the press, designed to allay the health concerns of smokers and to discredit health promotion information and practices. ARISE's later interest in food suggests that counterfactual 'health' messages on almost any topic could be promoted similarly, regardless of their implausibility.

Rebuilding a health care system: war, reconstruction and health care reforms in Kosovo.
This article explores the complexity of a health care system reforms in a post-conflict situation. It describes how the health care system was revamped immediately after the war, and then reorganized with Primary Health Care (PHC) as the fulcrum for change. It highlights the coordination problems, typical of a post-war situation when un-coordinated humanitarian assistance pours in. ⋯ But there are also shortcomings. There is also a potential danger that the health care system could partly revert to the old system. While some of the successes and shortcomings may be specific to Kosovo, many lessons learnt from Kosovo apply to health care reforms elsewhere.

A scientific journal exists only because of the good will and assistance of its reviewers. We can only publish less than a fifth of the papers we receive and, in making our decisions, we depend on the expertise of many people. ⋯ Their names are listed below and we would like to take this opportunity to thank them. The list refers to reviewers assigned until the 6th December 2006.
