Tetracycline labeling as a measure of humeral head viability after 3- or 4-part proximal humerus fracture.
Specifically located humeral head biopsies from three-part proximal humerus fractures taken at the time of hemiarthroplasty will show greater tetracycline labeling under fluorescent microscopy than those biopsies taken from four-part fractures. Additionally, biopsies from younger patients would show greater fluorescence than older patients. ⋯ Basic Science Study.

Minimal clinically important differences (MCID) and patient acceptable symptomatic state (PASS) for visual analog scales (VAS) measuring pain in patients treated for rotator cuff disease.
The MCID is the smallest difference in an outcome score which a patient perceives as beneficial. The PASS is the score below which patients consider themselves well. The purpose of this study was to determine the MCID and PASS for a visual analog scale (VAS) measuring pain in patients treated for rotator cuff disease. ⋯ Level 3; Nonconsecutive series of patients, diagnostic study.

Psychometric properties of the shortened disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Questionnaire (QuickDASH) and Numeric Pain Rating Scale in patients with shoulder pain.
To examine the psychometric properties of the Shortened Disabilities of the Arm, Shoulder, and Hand Questionnaire (QuickDASH) and the Numeric Pain Rating Scale (NPRS) in patients with shoulder pain. ⋯ The NPRS and QuickDASH exhibit good test-retest reliability and responsiveness in patients with shoulder pain.
