Comparative Study
Comparison of two blood sampling methods in anticoagulation therapy: venipuncture and peripheral venous catheter.
To compare prothrombin time and activated partial thromboplastin time values in concurrent blood samples obtained by direct venipuncture and from a peripheral venous catheter. ⋯ In clinical applications, nurses may prefer the use of peripheral venous catheter to venipuncture both for the comfort of the patients who get anticoagulation therapy and for the prevention of the risks as a result of venipuncture. Application of peripheral venous catheter eliminates the risks of superficial bleeding, irritation, pain and anxiety caused by venipuncture.

The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that affect exclusive breastfeeding of healthy babies aged 0-4 months. ⋯ Exclusive breastfeeding of babies aged 0-6 months is crucial for the development and growth of the baby and instrumental in reducing infant morbidities and mortalities. One factor that increases the likelihood of provision of complementary foods is frequent crying of the baby. Midwives and nurses can encourage exclusive breastfeeding behaviour by providing individual education and counselling to women whose babies cry frequently.

Controlled Clinical Trial
Discharge training and counselling increase self-care ability and reduce postdischarge problems in CABG patients.
The aim of this study was to determine how discharge training and counselling provided to patients, who had undergone coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery, had effects on patients' self-care ability and on the problems encountered after discharge. The objectives were to help patients develop self-care behaviour to deal more comfortably with the problems caused by the disease and, hopefully, to reduce the number of problems they may encounter. ⋯ As discharge training and counselling services had a positive impact on the self-care and alleviation of the problems that patients encounter after being discharged, we recommend application of these services and the usage of the training booklet for CABG patients.

Comparative Study
Nursing staff competence, work strain, stress and satisfaction in elderly care: a comparison of home-based care and nursing homes.
The aims of this study were to: (1) compare older people care nursing staff's perceptions of their competence, work strain and work satisfaction in nursing homes and home-based care; and (2) to examine determinants of work satisfaction in both care settings. ⋯ Future interventions should focus on counteracting work-related exhaustion and improving competence development to improve work satisfaction among older people care nursing staff in both care settings. Relevance to clinical practice. Work-related exhaustion and lack of competence development may have significant negative implications for work satisfaction among older people care nursing staff in both home care and nursing homes.
