Quality geriatric care as perceived by nurses in long-term and acute care settings.
This study focused on differences in nurses' satisfaction with the quality of care of older people and with organisational characteristics and work environment in acute care and long-term care settings. ⋯ Modification of hospital geriatric practice environments and leadership commitment to evidence-based practice guidelines that promote autonomy and independence of patients and staff could improve acute care nurses' perceptions of quality of geriatric care.

Association of distress symptoms and use of complementary medicine among patients with cancer.
The aim of this study was to investigate the association between distress symptoms and the types of complementary and alternative medicine use in patients with cancer. ⋯ Health care providers should ask their patients about their complementary and alternative medicine use to avoid possible adverse interactions between conventional treatment and complementary and alternative medicine interventions, in particular, those remedies that are likely to interact with cancer medications.

To examine the effect of relaxation therapy on reducing patient anxiety and pain before and after total joint replacement. ⋯ Clinical practice should include complementary relaxation therapy to alleviate pain and anxiety in patients with joint replacement.

Use of complementary and alternative medicine by patients with cancer in northern Turkey: analysis of cost and satisfaction.
The aims of this study were to determine (1) the prevalence of complementary and alternative medicine use among patients with cancer, (2) the method of use of the particular therapy, (3) the reasons for using complementary and alternative medicine therapies, (4) the benefits experienced by the use of complementary and alternative medicine, (5) the source of information about complementary and alternative medicine therapies and, (6) the satisfaction and cost of complementary and alternative medicine. ⋯ To sustain medical treatment and prognosis of cancer, it is important for nurses to consult with their patients regarding the use and potential risks of some complementary and alternative medicine.
