To identify risk factors for and outcomes of surgical site infections and cellulitis after abdominal hysterectomies. ⋯ Preoperative showers, antimicrobial prophylaxis, surgical techniques preventing seromas, and the operating room environment may affect the risk of surgical site infections and cellulitis after abdominal hysterectomies.

Racial and ethnic disparities in preterm births in infants conceived by in vitro fertilization in the United States.
The objective of the study was to examine racial and ethnic differences in preterm births in infants conceived by in vitro fertilization (IVF). ⋯ There exist notable racial and ethnic disparities in preterm births in infants conceived by IVF, suggesting that mechanisms other than socioeconomic disparities contribute to this difference.

External funding of obstetrical publications: citation significance and trends over 2 decades.
The objective of the study was to identify the external funding status of the most frequently cited obstetrical publications (citation classics) and to assess trends in funded vs nonfunded manuscripts as well as each publication's type of external funding. ⋯ Our findings provide useful data regarding the importance of securing NIH-based funding for physicians contemplating academic careers in obstetrics.
