To evaluate psychometric properties of the Functional Assessment of Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infection (FAHI) questionnaire, a 47-item disease-specific instrument evaluating Health-Related Quality of Life (HRQL) in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. ⋯ The FAHI demonstrated acceptable psychometric properties in two independent populations. HRQL assessment enabled detection of changes in patients' health status not revealed by traditional efficacy endpoints.

To clarify the relationship of health-related quality of life (HRQoL) to workplace physical violence (WPV) against nurses by psychiatric patients. ⋯ A worsened psychological domain score might predict violence, and improving HRQoL seems to be helpful in preventing WPV against nurses by psychiatric patients.

This prospective study was performed to evaluate the effect of chemotherapy-related neurotoxicity on quality of life (QOL) of patients with lymphoma. ⋯ Chemotherapy-related polyneuropathy may deteriorate QOL of patients with lymphoma, mainly physical health-associated QOL.

This study examined the impact of different reporting period lengths on the accuracy of items measuring interference due to pain and fatigue with work, walking, and relations with others. ⋯ Recall ratings with reporting periods of up to a month yield good correspondence with aggregated daily ratings, although the absolute level of the rating will be inflated for recall periods of 3 days or longer.
