Generic preference-based quality of life (PbQoL) measures are sometimes criticized for being insensitive or failing to capture important aspects of quality of life (QoL) in specific populations. The objective of this study was to systematically review and assess the construct validity and responsiveness of PbQoL measures in Parkinson's. ⋯ The construct validity of the PbQoL measures was generally good, but there are concerns regarding their responsiveness to change. In Parkinson's, the inclusion of a Parkinson's-specific QoL measure or a generic but broader scoped mental and well-being focused measure to incorporate aspects not included in the common PbQoL measures is recommended.

Burn patients may encounter social barriers and stigmatization. The objectives of this study were to adapt the Social Comfort Questionnaire (SCQ) into Brazilian Portuguese and to assess the psychometric properties of the adapted version. ⋯ The results showed that the SCQ Brazilian Portuguese adapted version complies with the validity and reliability criteria required for an instrument assessing social comfort in Brazilian burn patients. The Brazilian version yields a single score that is easy to interpret and well understood by patients.

The schedule of attitudes toward hastened death (SAHD) is widely used to assess the wish to hasten death (WTHD) among patients with life-threatening conditions. A short form of the SAHD would increase its clinical applicability in this population. ⋯ This 5-item Spanish form of the SAHD could be a suitable alternative to the full instrument. The cut-off score derived from the Rasch analysis may be able to detect patients at risk of a WTHD.
