Diabetic foot ulcer (DFU) is one of the most common and severe complications of diabetes mellitus, which is becoming increasingly prevalent throughout the world, with high mortality and morbidity. Because of the complex pathophysiological processes involved, DFU is difficult to treat effectively with traditional therapies. ⋯ However, some researchers are skeptical about its safety, and clinical trials are lacking. This article reviews the current research and application of ozone therapy for DFUs.

Thrombolytic therapy is widely accepted for massive pulmonary embolism (PE) due to the high mortality risk associated with standard anticoagulation alone. Its role in submassive PE, however, has remained controversial. We aimed to evaluate whether the selective use of systemic thrombolytic therapy with intravenous tissue plasminogen activator (IV-tPA) improves the survival of patients with submassive PE at increased risk for clinical deterioration. ⋯ Thrombolytic therapy for hemodynamically stable PE patients with respiratory failure may improve survival.

This study aimed to investigate the role of Clostridium butyricum (C. butyricum) in conjunction with the Toll-like receptor2 (TLR2) signaling pathway and T helper 17 (Th17) cells in dextran sodium sulfate (DSS)-induced colitis in mice. ⋯ C. butyricum exerts a dose-dependently protective effect on acute intestinal inflammation induced by DSS in mice, by inhibiting the TLR2 signaling pathway, down-regulating the expression of IL23 and RORγt, and inhibiting the secretion of IL17.

Quantitative Volumetric Comparison of Direct Oral Anticoagulant and Vitamin K Antagonist Treatment for Pulmonary Thrombus Reduction During the Acute Phase in Symptomatic Patients.
Recent clinical trials' findings have revealed the therapeutic noninferiority of direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) to standard therapy with vitamin K antagonist (VKA) in patients with pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE). However, few studies have quantitatively analyzed thrombus reduction in the pulmonary artery. ⋯ In relation to pulmonary artery thrombus volume reduction, DOAC monotherapy for PTE may be comparable with standard therapy involving VKAs.
