The dyadic relationship of benefit finding and its impact on quality of life in colorectal cancer survivor and spousal caregiver couples.
To explore the benefit finding (BF) relationship between colorectal cancer (CRC) survivors and their spousal caregivers, and to discover the dyadic impact of BF on quality of life (QOL) in CRC survivor and spousal caregiver couples. ⋯ The present study further confirms the dyadic interdependence between BF, anxiety, depression, and QOL in couples coping with CRC. In addition, the APIMeM findings may support the proposed mechanism, in that buffering against negative emotions (psychological distress) is an approach in which BF plays an important role, e.g., improves QOL, in the context of a stressful process.

The role of methadone in cancer-induced bone pain: a retrospective cohort study.
Cancer-induced bone pain (CIBP) can be challenging to manage in advanced cancer. The unique properties of methadone may have a role in refractory CIBP. We aimed to evaluate the analgesic effects of methadone for CIBP when other opioids are ineffective or intolerable. ⋯ MR for CIBP may result in reduction in pain intensity, when other opioids are ineffective or intolerable, with patients requiring reduced overall dosing of their long-acting opioid and frequency of breakthrough opioid use.

Esophageal cancer patients of heavier weight have more nutritional risk of inadequate calorie intake immediately after esophagectomy: a retrospective study.
Perioperative malnutrition is common in patients undergoing esophagectomy, and nutritional support is critical for postoperative recovery in these patients. But few studies reported which characteristics of these patients were associated with post-esophagectomy inadequate calorie intake. This study aimed to explore which patients were more likely to have inadequate calories immediately after esophagectomy and the impact on clinical outcomes. ⋯ The weights of patients having inadequate calories in a week after esophagectomy were significantly heavier than those having adequate calories. Heavier patients after esophagectomy should attract more attention to their nutrition support.

Resilience process and its protective factors in long-term survivors after lung cancer surgery: a qualitative study.
Resilience was correlated with psychological outcomes and quality of life in lung cancer patients. But the resilience process and its protective factors remained uncertain. ⋯ This study showed the dynamic process of resilience and its protective factors in long-term survivors after lung cancer surgery. Future studies could identify average length of time of each stage and how patients transfer between stages during resilience process. Besides, interventions could be carried out to educate patients diagnosed with cancer about normal stages of change in body and resilience through time and strategies on adaptation and adjustment of lung cancer.
