Febrile neutropenia and role of prophylactic granulocyte colony-stimulating factor in docetaxel and cyclophosphamide chemotherapy for breast cancer.
Febrile neutropenia (FN) incidence during docetaxel and cyclophosphamide (TC) chemotherapy, known as a high-risk regimen, differs among countries. The role of prophylactic granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) in FN is unclear. This study aimed to investigate FN frequency and relative dose intensity (RDI) of TC chemotherapy in patients with breast cancer and identify the correct population requiring prophylactic G-CSF. ⋯ FN frequency during TC chemotherapy was high, and primary prophylactic G-CSF reduced FN incidence. Primary prophylactic G-CSF is an effective therapy for preventing FN during TC chemotherapy. However, prophylactic G-CSF should be considered for elderly patients based on the low hospitalization rate and the high RDI.

Time-dependent discrepancies between physician-assessed and patient-reported oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy in patients with metastatic colorectal cancer who received mFOLFOX6 plus bevacizumab: a post hoc analysis (WJOG4407GSS2).
Cumulative sensory neurotoxicity induced by oxaliplatin impairs patients' quality of life and treatment continuation. This study investigated the relationship between physician-assessed and patient-reported oxaliplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy (OIPN) during treatment of metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) over time. ⋯ During early treatment, physician underestimation of OIPN in patients with mCRC is likely.

Correlation between an integrative oncology treatment program and survival in patients with advanced gynecological cancer.
Integrative oncology (IO) is increasingly becoming part of palliative cancer care. This study examined the correlation between an IO treatment program and rates of survival among patients with advanced gynecological cancer. ⋯ Adherence to an IO treatment program was associated with higher survival rates among patients with advanced gynecological cancer. Larger prospective trials are needed to explore whether the IO setting enhances patients' resilience, coping, and adherence to oncology treatment.

Prevention, diagnosis and management of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy: a cross-sectional study of French oncologists' professional practices.
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is challenging for oncologists. Many publications mention the high incidence of CIPN and the lack of effective preventive/management strategies and robust diagnostic tools. This cross-sectional study was aimed at assessing the practice of French oncologists for CIPN prevention, diagnosis and management. ⋯ Oncologists were clearly aware of CIPN risks, but its incidence tended to be underestimated and the ASCO recommendations for the management of CIPN were not followed. The prevention, diagnosis and management of CIPN remain problematic in clinical practice in France.
