Long-Term-Monitoring (LTM) is a valuable tool for seizure localization/lateralization among children with refractory-epilepsy undergoing pre-surgical-monitoring. The aim of this study was to examine the factors predicting occurrence of single/multiple seizures in children undergoing pre-surgical monitoring in the LTM unit. ⋯ Majority of the admissions (92%) admitted to the LTM-unit for pre-surgical workup had at-least one seizure during a mean length of stay of 5.24 days. Home seizure-frequency was the only predictor influencing occurrence of single/multiple seizures in the LTM unit. Patients with low seizure-frequency are at risk for completing the monitoring with less than the optimum number (<3) of seizures captured.

To evaluate EEG predictors of outcome in patients with altered sensorium suspected to have seizure and to assess whether short term EEG is as effective as long term continuous EEG (cEEG) in predicting the outcome of patients with altered sensorium due to neurological causes. ⋯ cEEG monitoring provides independent prognostic information in patients with altered sensorium and suspected seizures. Unfavorable findings include nonconvulsive seizures, periodic epileptiform discharges and abnormal background. Short term EEG is ineffective in detecting seizures on EEG in patients with altered sensorium and should not be used as substitute for Long term EEG.

To describe headaches in patients with epilepsy and try to identify relations between epileptic seizures and headaches. ⋯ A high prevalence of headaches in patients with epilepsy was observed, with emphasis on hybrid crises of epilepsy and migraine.
