Endogenous Klebsiella endophthalmitis associated with Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia.
To investigate the management, bacterial strains, antibiotic sensitivities, and visual outcomes in patients with Klebsiella pneumoniae pneumonia and endogenous Klebsiella endophthalmitis. ⋯ Ophthalmologists and physicians should be aware of Klebsiella pneumonia as a possible cause of endogenous endophthalmitis, and endogenous Klebsiella endophthalmitis usually causes poor visual outcomes.

Case ReportsHerpes zoster keratouveitis and inflammatory ocular hypertension 8 years after varicella vaccination.
More than 8 years after varicella vaccination, a healthy 16 year-old boy presented with keratouveitis, severe inflammatory glaucoma in his left eye, and Hutchinson's sign. He was treated with systemic acyclovir, topical steroids, cycloplegics, and glaucoma medications for a full recovery two months after presentation. It is unclear whether the source of herpes zoster which reactivated in this patient represents wild type virus or his previous vaccine strain. Herpes zoster ophthalmicus is very rare in the pediatric population after varicella vaccination but can cause severe inflammatory glaucoma that requires aggressive therapy.

Randomized Controlled TrialA double-masked, randomized study to investigate the safety and efficacy of daclizumab to treat the ocular complications related to Behçet's disease.
To investigate the safety and efficacy of daclizumab (Zenapax, humanized anti-Tac, HAT) in controlling the ocular manifestations of Behçet's disease. ⋯ The observed results in the placebo group demonstrate that careful follow-up and treatment with standard combination immunosuppressive therapy can be effective for the management of the ocular complications of Behçet's disease. In our small study, there was no suggestion that daclizumab was beneficial in comparison with placebo. However, the low observed attack rate limited our ability to make a definitive treatment group comparison.

Case ReportsNecrotizing scleritis due to varicella zoster infection: a case report.
To report a case with necrotizing scleritis due to varicella-zoster infection. ⋯ Ophthalmic manifestations of varicella infection are potentially blinding especially in the absence of appropriate diagnosis and medical intervention. Distinctive skin eruptions are specifically helpful in the early diagnosis of the disease.
