Analysis of failed surgery for patellar instability in children with open growth plates.
Many surgical procedures have been proposed to treat recurrent patellar dislocation in children. In recent years, a more tailored approach considering the underlying pathology has been advocated. The aim of the study was to analyze a group of patients with recurrent patellofemoral instability after unsuccessful operative stabilization (Roux-Goldthwait procedure, lateral release, medial reefing or in combination) in childhood and adolescence. ⋯ Retrospective study, Level III.

Comparative StudyLong-term outcomes after repair of recurrent post-traumatic anterior shoulder instability: comparison of arthroscopic transglenoid suture and open Bankart reconstruction.
The purpose of this study is to report long-term outcomes of the arthroscopic modified Caspari technique compared to an open capsular shift surgery to treat post-traumatic anterior shoulder recurrent instability. The hypothesis was that the open surgery group would show higher degenerative changes than to the modified Caspari technique group after a follow-up from 10 to 17 years. ⋯ Therapeutic Study-Retrospective Comparative Study, Level III.

Reconstruction of the medial patello-femoral and patello-tibial ligaments for treatment of patellar instability.
The importance of the medial patello-femoral (MPFL) and medial patello-tibial ligaments (MPTL) to the stability of the patella is undoubted. The purpose of this work was to present a technique for the reconstruction of both ligaments and prospectively record its outcome. ⋯ III.

Comparative StudyTension band wire fixation for anterior cruciate ligament avulsion fracture: biomechanical comparison of four fixation techniques.
The purpose of this study is to design a new fixation method to treat tibial eminence fractures and assess its stability compared with conventional fixation methods. ⋯ The ultimate strength of tension band wire fixation of tibial eminence fractures in these specimens was significantly greater than those of the other three fixation methods. Tension band wire fixation of eminence fractures appears to provide biomechanical advantages over the other three fixation methods; hence, it is a practical alternative to conventional fixation techniques.

Effects of medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction on patellar tracking.
Medial patellofemoral ligament (MPFL) reconstruction has been performed to treat recurrent patellar dislocation. However, the effects on patellar tracking have not been well documented, particularly in patients. The purpose of this study is to compare patellar tracking pattern and chondral status at MPFL reconstruction with those at second-look arthroscopy. ⋯ Therapeutic studies, Level IV.
