Does the severity of preoperative varus deformity influence postoperative alignment in both conventional and computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty?
The postoperative alignment was compared according to the severity of preoperative varus deformity in computer-assisted and conventional total knee arthroplasty (CAS-TKA). ⋯ III.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyRotation in total knee arthroplasty: no difference between patient-specific and conventional instrumentation.
It was our hypothesis that patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) can improve the accuracy of the rotational alignment in TKA based on the concept of the system and on the potential to clearly identify pre-operatively during planning the classical anatomical landmarks that serve as references to set-up the rotation both for the femur and tibia. ⋯ Prospective comparative randomized study, Level II.

Randomized Controlled TrialCustom-fit minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty: effect on blood loss and early clinical outcomes.
Recently, new custom-fit pin guides in total knee arthroplasty (TKA) have been introduced. Use of these guides may reduce operating time. Use of the guides combined with the absence of intramedullary alignment jigs may lead to reduced blood loss and improved early outcomes. Our aim was to evaluate blood loss and early clinical outcomes in patients undergoing minimally invasive TKA using custom-fit magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based pin guides. ⋯ Therapeutic study, Level I.

Clinical TrialThe unhappy total knee arthroplasty (TKA) patient: higher WOMAC and lower KSS in depressed patients prior and after TKA.
Patient-based and psychological factors do influence outcome in patients undergoing total knee arthroplasty (TKA). The purpose was to investigate if preoperative psychological factors influence the subjective and objective outcomes 6 weeks, 4 months and 1 year after TKA. Our hypothesis was that there is a significant influence of psychological factors on clinical outcome scores before and after TKA. ⋯ Prognostic prospective, Level I.

Comparative StudyJoint line changes after primary total knee arthroplasty: navigated versus non-navigated.
Navigation has been introduced to achieve more accurate positioning of the implants after TKA. The scientific attention was mainly paid on limb alignment rather than restoration of the natural joint line. The aim of our study was to compare the accuracy of the joint line restoration in primary TKA with and without navigation. We hypothesized that joint line reconstruction in navigated TKA is more accurate. ⋯ Diagnostic study, Level III.
