Translation, cross-cultural adaptation, reliability and validity of the Turkish version of the Western Ontario Meniscal Evaluation Tool (WOMET).
The Western Ontario Meniscal Evaluation Tool (WOMET) is a questionnaire designed to evaluate quality of life related to the health (HRQOL) of patients with meniscus pathology. The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the WOMET into Turkish, and thereby to determine the reliability and validity of the translated version. ⋯ The Turkish version of the WOMET is valid and reliable. It can therefore be used for HRQOL of patients with meniscal pathology.

Femoral marrow cavity bone harvesting used for arthroscopic refilling of misplaced or enlarged bone tunnels in revision ACL surgery: an arthroscopically supported technique with antegrade intramedullary bone harvesting by a reamer-irrigator-aspirator (RIA) system.
In anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) revision surgery, refilling of misplaced or enlarged tunnels frequently requires bone harvesting from the iliac crest. Unfortunately, donor-site pain displays a relevant complication. In order to optimize patients' comfort, we developed a procedure combining minimally invasive intramedullary bone harvesting from the femur with arthroscopic tunnel refilling. ⋯ Intramedullary bone harvesting from the ipsilateral femur combined with arthroscopic refilling of the bone tunnels ensures a high-quality bone stock for further ACL reconstruction. The clinical relevance is shown by the feasibility of this technique and the significantly reduced pain levels during post-operative recovery.

Randomized Controlled TrialWhich analgesic mixture is appropriate for periarticular injection after total knee arthroplasty? Prospective, randomized, double-blind study.
Although the analgesic effect of periarticular injection after total knee arthroplasty (TKA) has been well documented, the gold standard for drug combination has not yet been established. In this study, the analgesic effects of six different drug combinations were compared. ⋯ The combination of ropivacaine, morphine, and ketorolac showed a significantly stronger and sufficiently synergistic analgesic effect without adding methylprednisolone in periarticular injection after TKA. The clinical relevance of the study is that the combination of ropivacaine, morphine, and ketorolac can be a good option for periarticular injection following TKA in terms of synergistic analgesic effect and efficiency of drug combination.

Comparative StudyGraft maturity of the reconstructed anterior cruciate ligament 6 months postoperatively: a magnetic resonance imaging evaluation of quadriceps tendon with bone block and hamstring tendon autografts.
The purpose of this study was to report the potential differences associated with graft maturity measured on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) between quadriceps tendon with bone block and hamstring tendon autografts 6 months after ACL reconstruction. ⋯ The maturity of quadriceps tendon with bone block was better in comparison with hamstring 6 months after anatomic SB ACL reconstruction. This study is clinically relevant in that modifying the individual rehabilitation according to the extent of graft maturity may be necessary to optimize patient function and prevent re-injury of the ACL graft.

Comparative StudyA two- and five-year follow-up of clinical outcome after ACL reconstruction using BPTB or hamstring tendon grafts: a prospective intervention outcome study.
The aim of the present study was to evaluate and compare objective and subjective outcome in patients 2 and 5 years after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with either bone-patellar tendon-bone (BPTB) or hamstring grafts. The second aim was to report the prevalence of re- and contralateral ACL ruptures. ⋯ At the 5-year follow-up, there were no significant differences in terms of anterior knee laxity, rotational knee joint stability, muscle torque, anterior knee pain, hop performance, quality of life or activity level between patients who had undergone reconstruction with BPTB or hamstring grafts. None of the patients, irrespective of group, had returned to their pre-injury level of activity. Eight out of the nine patients who had sustained a second ACL rupture were women.
